Of the bikes currently for sale here in the UK quite a number are 2022/23 demonstrators that have likely seen only intermittent use. I’m hoping to pick one up soon but I’m a bit concerned about the condition of the traction batteries in these bikes. Speaking to the dealers, some have been kept at 100% – in the words of one, “we put all of our bikes on charge every day” meaning mostly the 12V battery of course, but their solution with EV seems to take the same line. Others have been charged intermittently, possibly only when an enquiry has come in for a test ride.
What do folks think about the potential condition of these batteries? My understanding is that maintaining them at 20-80% is optimum, and I’m concerned that some of these bikes will already have batteries and therefore range, degraded somewhat…
Here‘s a screenshot of the display on a 2022 demonstrator that in other ways looks pretty good to me, but at 97% charged I would be expecting it to show something like 77 miles range, rather than 62?
