Of the bikes currently for sale here in the UK quite a number are 2022/23 demonstrators that have likely seen only intermittent use. I’m hoping to pick one up soon but I’m a bit concerned about the condition of the traction batteries in these bikes. Speaking to the dealers, some have been kept at 100% – in the words of one, “we put all of our bikes on charge every day” meaning mostly the 12V battery of course, but their solution with EV seems to take the same line. Others have been charged intermittently, possibly only when an enquiry has come in for a test ride.

What do folks think about the potential condition of these batteries? My understanding is that maintaining them at 20-80% is optimum, and I’m concerned that some of these bikes will already have batteries and therefore range, degraded somewhat…

Here‘s a screenshot of the display on a 2022 demonstrator that in other ways looks pretty good to me, but at 97% charged I would be expecting it to show something like 77 miles range, rather than 62?

Hi when you look at the range and pourcentage they will always vary depending the riding mode who is display below the odometer on the image it's the road mode so not the economic one, for exemple when I recharge mine at 100% if I display in eco mode it will tell me that my range is 124 km if I display in Dynamic mode it will show me 119 km and it take into account your style of riding if you are relax on acceleration or a bit happy fast riding. There is a Facebook page https://fr-fr.facebook.com/groups/4367141670014011/posts/4966317660096406/?mibextid=6NoCDW if you want to ask more questions to people with a lot of km done since 2022, I personally have mine since March 2023, and I have only 5400 km done since here in winter we cannot ride (Montreal Quebec).
Hope it helps.
Cheers
Yves

Thanks Yves, that answers one of the questions I had, but what do you think about my concern about these demonstrator bikes (there are quite a few for sale here) that have been sitting around not doing much and with mostly pretty irregular battery charging.

PS sadly I'm not on Facebook as I'm rather anti-Zuck. Probably a foolish error on my part, I know!

I again I not on Facebook as well but this one is a open one so you don't need to be member just push on the X 1717866907201.webp
to get access. Your concern about the state of the battery I would not worry if you buy a demonstrator model you will get full warranty 3 years on the scooter and a 5 years warranty on the battery if it loose it full charge more than 10 %.
They build the C evolution first as a electric scooter and a lot of French user still have fun with them.
Last winter mine stay at 67% percent all winter without problem.

Still… from the displayed numbers, at 100% charge in road mode, range will display as 64 miles / 103km which seems a bit low compared to your eco and dynamic figures of 124 and 119 respectively?

Its a normal thing since it calculate the amount of power the road mode use compare to the eco mode, I did a test this week I rarely use the eco mode, mostly dynamic but this week I rode in respect a the speed limit and slow start so on tuesday morning I had 124 km at 100% I recharge during the night, on friday night arriving home I had 23% of battery and a suggest range of 28 km left and I had done a distance of 120 km total (city driving) in four days, any time you will ride fast in any mode the app recalculate the amount of KM left with you riding style if you slow down it will recalculate and tell you your range is bigger. The syndrome with electric engin is the anxiety range. You get used to it and manage, the big advantage of the CE04 is that you can charge anywhere with a type 2 cable, here in Quebec the station come with the cable, I know that in the UK or in France you must carry a cable to be able to used the station.
Hope it help.
Even struck in the trafic I have a stupid smile in my face because it's so fun to ride!
Cheers

I would not be concerned about the displayed range numbers. Those numbers are based on an algorithm of previous rides and how the battery was depleted during those rides. I imagine short test rides are a sub-optimum use case for maximum possible range to be displayed.

If the number of charge cycles are low on those demo scooters, I would not be overly concerned. If you buy one, make sure you understand what in-service date will be used to determine the length of your factory battery warranty.

Like my fellow member Yves above, I really enjoy riding my CE 04..even in city traffic. It makes errands that were boring in my car much more fun!

Thanks Mike, having had the machine for a little while now I have become used to the fact that the predicted range can vary quite a lot depending on how the bike has been used previously. If I have been pootling around on back roads at relatively low speeds it can be quite optimistic, on the other hand if I have been running fast along main roads then less so…
