    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

The Beemer is a very nice scooter, nice looking and I almost bought one. However issues and maint seems a bit much even though I do all my own work. If BMW would have put the Piaggio BV 400 engine in it ,it would be almost perfect. I bought the BV 400. Not as pretty ,but bullet proof motor and...

    Malossi Variator and Clutch

I used to subscribe to the faster, scooter club. I find that out touring , I’m happier running along at lower RPMs. even a small amount equates to a more relaxed ride. I read there Are variators that have better/faster take off AND a higher top speed-but I suspect the RPM range will still be...

    Malossi Variator and Clutch

I installed the Malossi clutch on a Yamaha Majesty 400. Yes it was smoother vibration wise, small amount. Operation of clutch was amazing over the OEM 3-shoe clutch. As far As variators go, I do my own trickery by buying new rollers ( or sliders) and adding weight, ( epoxy filled center, grind...

    Malossi Variator and Clutch

I can’t comment on the variator, but the 5-shoe Malossi clutch is great. Smoother operation, cooler running clutch drum, and they come balanced.

Is the digital info/navigation screen worth the extra $$$

Sorry if I had misled anyone. The way I read sales pitch was “you can get the navigation/connectivity,etc if you want it”. That kinda wording to me means it is not something extra and not standard. Probably just a misunderstanding ( probably on my behalf). I still haven’t called the dealer to...

Is the digital info/navigation screen worth the extra $$$

I e-mailed dealer last week. I have not talked/spoken/phone to ( closest dealer 150 miles away) dealer about any options yet. Only e-mailed info I was given is -no units ( C 400 GT) available at this time, ( south Tx) A $1000 non-refundable order, 60-120 day turn around time ( don’t know if...

Is the digital info/navigation screen worth the extra $$$

Maybe a subjective question-To those that have the digital info screen on their 400 GT, if you were to do it all over again would you buy the same or the lesser dash model. And if I may ask why ?. I’m an old guy. I don’t really need Bluetooth IMO and I have a small Garmin Nuvi that I can use for...

High mileage 400 GTs anyone ?

I did a search. Didn’t turn up anything about the 400 GT with high mileage. Asking what mileage and or issues you’ve had if any. Thanks for any replies. I

Stop Sale: Not sure if the scoots are included

That’s really great news. I wish BMW industries well. I enjoyed Airheads in the past. Hopefully when I get a new 400 GT ( soon) it will be as reliable and I have as much fun with it for the rest of my days.

Does the C 400 GT come with a battery tender/charger pigtail?

I’ve always put a fused SAE pigtail direct to the battery. I was just wondering if the bike came with one on it -either BMWs or an SAE type terminal. No intention of charging through the power point. An though I cut my teeth onFI and Can-bus systems, I wouldn’t use a Can-bus charge set up. The...

Does the C 400 GT come with a battery tender/charger pigtail?

Very good. Clean install and good location for heated wear as well as batt charger/tender. Thanks

Need a dimension please ground/floor to height of hump.

Thanks for the info. I can handle 22””. And FWIW I almost always use the center stand- on scooters anyway.

Does the C 400 GT come with a battery tender/charger pigtail?

Either a BMW or SAE type pigtail come on these new scooters ? I have added one to every bike/scooter I’ve ever owned. Just would like to know if the factory or dealers put any on before selling. Thanks

Need a dimension please ground/floor to height of hump.

If someone has a spare minute, could you get a level and measure tape and give me the distance from the 400GT hump ( where gas tank lid is) to the ground. In other words how high must you lift your foot up to clear the center hump when mounting the scooter. One of the reasons I did not consider...

    C400GT maintenance questions

I know you figured this out already, but I just now having read this thread-I posted a similar post about the rear hub oil, today. Correct-nothing about it in the owners manual. But yes a BMW approved gear oil I found in a microfiche for the C 400 GT. The oil they show is BMW synthetic OSP -XO...

Rear wheel drive train/hub oil ?

I looked at a C 400 GT parts microfiche and could not find anything out of the ordinary, but it was a small picture. However in the same picture with the engine/trans case, off to the side showed the BMW recommended Advance engine oil -AND- a qt bottle of BMW synthetic OSP XO ( 75w-90) full...

Rear wheel drive train/hub oil ?

I looked through the online owners manual about maintenance on the 400 GT. I see nothing about the rear hub/drive gears lubrication. The engine and rear hub are separate on every make of scooter I’ve seen. Does the C 400 GT utilize engine oil to lubricate these gears/bearings for the rear wheel?

What adapter and app needed to reset oil change/other alerts

    C 400 GT valve adjust/check speculation

I have not seen a repair manual on this scoot, but I have seen a part’s microfiche. Looks to me like the rocker arms just slide to one side once the plastic side spacer/retainer is remover to expose the shims ( exactly like the Piaggio BV 350/400 engine. Unless I’m missing something. So easy...
