1,000km transmission fluid replacement

I'm curious to know other people's opinions about my first service experience. I bought my bike in Malta a few months ago. I was told about the long service intervals and that I had to take the bike in for a first service/check-up on 1,000km. When I did eventually take it in for the service, I was told my transmission fluid had to be replaced and this was a standard thing.

I'm curious if dealers in your countries also do the same and your opinions on it. I wasn't charged much - €85. I was very surprised that transmission oil had to be changed after 1K kms and never after then. Apparently, it's because of initial wear. I also get that but does it not wear after that?

For avoidance of questions, yes, there is a sump on the bottom of the bike and there is transmission fluid in there.

You got off cheap. I paid $270 for my 600 mile service. And they're supposed to do more than change the transmission fluid. They're supposed to check the drive belt and see if it needs adjusting, and do so if necessary. In the back of the manual, there's a long checklist of things they're supposed to do.

Ok. It would seem I did. Thank you for confirming. I wasn’t told any of this when I bought the bike so it was a surprise.
