I'm still on the fence as to buying the 650GT or the NEW Burgman 650. I've read several comments on this forum about comparisons to the Burgman, but I haven't found anyone compare it to the NEW 2013 Suzuki Burgman. I hear Suzuki has significantly improved the Burgman from previous years. Has anyone been able to test ride the NEW Burgman? and if so, what are your thoughts? Why did you choose the BMW instead?

Rode the new Burgman a few weeks ago. Had owned two previous Burgman 650's before. The new one rode just like the old one, except it had less "decel braking". Fit and finish is better than previous years.

The BMW has more features (heated grips, heated seat, TPMS) for the same MSRP.

I like to think of my c6 as a little brother to the R-series of BMW bikes, especially the R1200RT. Considering BMW did not have a scooter chassis to develop from (the C1 does not count in this regard) I think that it borrows from the standard of what is already working well for BMW. I certainly notice handling and comfort that I've enjoyed on a bigger Beemer sport/touring bike. I like the sporty feel and excellent and confident slow speed handling. Suzuki does not currently offer a Sport/Touring bike other than the V-strom which is an adventure bike and the Boulevard which is a cruiser. So I tend to think that it stands alone in their lineup of bikes, and stands alone in how many resources are spent on development. I think that the C-series are more attractive, has larger bike balanced handling and has more power on tap. When I was interested in a new M/C or Scooter the Burgman was not anywhere near my list of choices. The Yamaha T-max is the closest thing but are not available in America any longer.

I agree. If Yamaha kept importing the TMax I would have bought one. Now I'm glad they didn't.

After having a Burgman 650 and putting on a pipe and fuel controller that was dyno tuned, I think it could have had more power output than I got, 41.8 after everything, while the BMW starts at 47whp. The difference is in the Electronic controls of the CVT in the burgman, I believe to get true HP out of it you need to "hack" the cvt cpu, it has several setpoints, and the manual mode just goes to specific setpoints, but I think they are still under peak for longevity, reasons. just like the ECU in you car is made to pass EPA standards, but not real world standards.

conversly, the has only one power reducing sensor, ABS rings, that reduce power once they see the rear wheel spinning faster than the front wheel. there is no control electronically for the CVT, you can tune and adapt with weights and springs, up to the point of wheel spin....unless you do what the italians do, put a switch on the real abs sensor to disable it. you lose abs and traction control, but you don't lose power to the wheel.....hmmm switch on to make a maniac sport or return to modest scoot...i like it.
