2016 Scooters

There is a big difference prices of different colors of paint. I had a 2001 Goldwing with Illusion Red paint. On the parts lists for a given part it was always quite a bit more expensive than the same part in white or black. Some colors require a base, then top coat followed by a clear coat while others can be done with one shot plus clear coat. I'm just glad I got my GT in red, I really don't care for some of the other colors available, namely the newest models. I don't know what it is about European cars and bikes but they sure seem to like somewhat blah shades. The dull color disease seems to be spreading to Honda now too.

The good thing about white is that it is a good base color upon which to paint any OTHER color. ;)

I'm kind of new to BMWs after a 30 year absence from motorcycling. Did pre-2016 models have default colors, in the scooter line up that is.

No, you had a choice of two or three colors each year. "Default" was whichever color happened to be on the dealership floor. ;)

I just checked online and saw the BMW 2 series cars also come in white and if you want a color it is a $895 option. I do not know about other cars but I would not be surprised.

I think white will always be the fastest. Because most people in Singapore slow down when they see a white motorcycle approaching from the rear. They think it's a traffic cop homing in on them! =P

My dad has a white Harley and wears a silver helmet here in the US. He says most people think he is a cop and slow down.

A black or white GL1800 Goldwing with it's two antennas tend to make some people think it's a cop bike. They don't try to run from one though, the GL1800 isn't slow like a Harley.;)

One thing people have to remember is that white and black are not colors (I learned that in art class in the 1970's)

Visible light, radio waves, x-rays and other types of radiation are all part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Visible light is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths ranging from roughly 400 and 700 nanometers. In physics, a color is visible light with a specific wavelength. Black and white are not colors because they do not have specific wavelengths. Instead, white light contains all wavelengths of visible light. Black, on the other hand, is the absence of visible light.

Black is one of the slowest colors because owners of those colored bikes have to spend so much time wiping dust off of them.
