2x2cycles bicycle carrier for the BMW CE-04: success!

Are you living the car-free life but feel the need to join group rides in faraway locations? Then you need the 2x2cycles "Moto Bicycle Carrier". I've only ridden the scoot 40 miles with a bicycle mounted so far, but it appears to be rock solid.

With this kit, mounting a bicycle to the CE-04 is relatively simple:

- Remove the front wheel from your bicycle
- Place the bike on the carrier, with the left pedal in the locking pedal cradle
- Lock the front fork in place (my bicycle is a thru-axle, so I just re-use the axle from my front bicycle wheel)
- Run the included strap from one rear footpeg to the other, going over the bicycle handlebars
- Pull the strap taut
- Place your removed front bicycle wheel in the wheel carrier (or elsewhere)

There is a video that explains all that here:

As far as getting the carrier mounted to the CE-04: the carrier screws onto whatever rear luggage rack you have. In my case, I have a Shad rack, whose holes didn't line up, so I drilled 4 extras that did. I suspect this hole pattern is what comes with the Givi top racks:

I happened to notice that 2x2cycles was only 15 miles (25km) away, so I visited them for advice as I was a bit nervous about mounting the 2x2cycles carrier onto CE-04. They were extremely helpful in showing me how to mount it to the scoot.

The Shad rack is unusually low compared to the seat, so I'm using extra long screws (60mm?) and spacers so that the carrier cleared the seat. You can probably tell, but on advice of 2x2cycles, my carrier is not completely vertical: I'm using about 2-3mm less spacers in the rear than in the front.

**WARNING FOR CE-04 OWNERS**: Ensure that your front bicycle wheel is at least 100mm (4") away from your indicator lights, or you will break them upon hitting a big bump. Depending on your top-case rack and spacing, the 2x2cycles wheel carrier is too damned close - I snapped my indicator the first time I hit a big bump:

Now I strap the front bicycle wheel so that it sits much higher up, resting on top of the side bag mount, in front of the pedal.

That initial fitting issue aside, I'm really pleased with the rack and recommend it to other cyclists who also scoot.

Nice work. And great info for other potentially interested users.

They should add your pic to their gallery (I particularly like the Vespa).
