600 Mile Service

I just had my 600 mile service. $80 just for the transmission fluid! How ridiculous is that? Then, of course, there was the labor, which was supposed to include belt tension adjustment, but not even the shop foreman could figure out how to use the torque wrench with the app they have to download to measure Hz. So, I'll have to bring it back for that as soon as they receive the proper education. They have a call into BMW for that. I think I should get a discount for being the guinea pig.

Now, they tell me I need to bring it back in a few months for the annual brake servicing! This is the first time I'm second guessing my decision to buy this scooter.

@rongrimes - Interesting! How much did it end up costing you?

I did my 600mi service in December, and it came out to $264 total, mostly in labor - no fluids change. The tech here had also never worked on a CE-04 before. IMHO, the 600-mile maintenance is mostly a scam, but it's good to have the peace of mind that your bike was assembled properly.

I wouldn't worry about the annual brake servicing - it's just BMW's plan to extract more money out of you. Electric vehicles with regenerative braking can go years without brake maintenance: Assuming that you typically use regenerative to come to stops (best in "Eco" or "Dynamic" mode), the pads will last you years. I might still recommend checking the brake fluid at least every 2 years, but chances are you'd be fine to go 4 years without changing out the fluid too.

You should be fine to put brake maintenance off until the 6k maintenance. I'm even a little iffy on the 6k maintenance - it still seems about twice as much as I would have assumed with this sort of vehicle.

The one area of maintenance concern on the CE-04 is the tires. I'm 3,000 miles in, and while I haven't yet measured it, I'm confident that the tires are not going to last 6,000 miles with a safe amount of tread depth. That said, I often peg the throttle when accelerating from a stop.

My total cost was almost identical to yours - $266, which was $80 for transmission fluid, $175 for labor and the rest in tax.

Hello same for me at 1000 KM maintenance 276.00$ CAD 3/4 cup of oil... When I order it last year I negotiate the first maintenance so they gave me a gift card of 250.00$
So it cost me 26.00$, now I find that to get part like tire is a bit complicated I have the Maxxis one on mine and I ask the part dep. to check aval on them since I have a nail in my rear one just in case of replacement, he found the code to order it but the distributor didn't have it in is list so part replacement seem to be a problem. To order the Puig screen and the Shad backrest I order them in France on MotoBlouz since I was not able to get anything here the distributor his on the sleeping mode.
What I read on the facebook page the Maxxis last longer compare to the Pirelli Rosso. Most of the user change for the Michelin Pilot when it's time for them to change.
Have a good weekend
Yves
