Hi all, I'm Phil, and I'm new here. First post.
I went and looked at an alleged "2017" C 650 GT yesterday, and took it for a test drive. I've never driven one previously, but it sure didn't feel like 60 h.p. to me. ( My '16 Burgman 650 feels significantly more powerful by comparison)
Could it be that the owner was running low-octane gas? Could the belt and rollers be worn enough at 18,000 kilometers to affect acceleration?
Could it be that I've stumbled across a 35kw (45 h.p.) low-power model? (I'm an American located in Portugal. The C 650 GT that I drove yesterday is here in Portugal too.) The bike's current owner said the bike was imported into Portugal from France, one year ago.
The owner claims its a 60 h.p. model, but he has nothing to substantiate that claim. Can I somehow decode the VIN to find out whether I'm dealing with the neutered model?
I can't call the BMW dealership and give them the VIN, as it's a Sunday here in Portugal. Tomorrow is a Portuguese holiday, so dealerships will be closed.
Anyone know how I can tell if I rode a low-powered version?
Thanks,
Phil
