Another option for a tunnel bag; a business bag/soft brief case by wunderlich

I would put the money towards a top box and buy a cheap brief case to put into it.

GIVI used to make a brief case that would attach to MONO KEY mounts. Slick, but, a top box will be much more versatile, and you can carry it like a brief case.

This could be extra storage for traveling or commuting. Just sayin'.

I'd opt for the BMW bag if I had to do it again, but the TMAX bag works great on my C600 and it fits on the floor of my Aprilia 250 scooter.

I take it that this tunnel bag interest is something that sport riders have. With my GT and BMW top box I can't imagine needing more cargo space. I don't know if the top box liner/bag came with the highline package or was an option purchased by the original owner of my GT but it's quite handy, shaving kit and overnight stuff can go in that to take into a place where one is staying.

The tunnel bag is pretty convenient. I often use mine for things like a camera, water bottle, glove liners or anything I might want to get to without having to stop the scooter. I also sometimes use it as a lunch box. I bring my lunch to work every day and sometimes use it if there are a few extras I need at work for the day, rather than carry two bags. It's one of those things that once you have it, you figure out different ways to use it.

Instead of a tunnel bag I use a handle bar bag.It usually contains; a pocket camera (in case of moose), toll money, iPod, but, mostly I put stuff in there when I stop; sunglasses, earbuds, gloves. My top box takes the place of a tank bag/notch bag.
Doesn't the BMW top box have a quick release? I have a GIVI and just bring the whole box in.
I can remember when Triumphs , maybe it was BSA's, had a tank rack, some other brands might have too.Why don't they now? I have considered fabricating a notch rack, I just don't need it.

A few years ago, when I was looking for another bike, I saw a picture of a Tmax with a tunnel bag. That one picture got me thinking about maxi-scooters. It looked that good. At the time I had no idea what the whole scene was about, but a short time later I bought a C650GT. So admittedly, to me, a good looking tunnel bag is more than just additional low CG storage space.

And, yeah, I agree that once you have one (or something like it) you do figure out a bunch of ways to find it useful.

Just curious Steve, have you seen the pics with my TMAX bag? Is there a reason you don't want the BMW bag? I like the TMAX bag, but if I was buying again, I'd just get the BMW bag.

You mean this picture...

Nope never saw it.:D

Ahhhh, wait a minute I think I commented on how good it looked. Guess I had a brain "dude wind"* moment when I asked about new tunnel bags.

(*You bet your life I work that into conversations.)

Maybe this weekend I'll get a shot of it out in the wild. Get more of a real world photo.

Maybe its just that the look of tunnel being filled looks right to me. I dunno. And that's your Tmax bag, right?
