Any Chance of a Software Update to Stop Charging when selected SOC reached?

Hi. I use my CE-04 routinely for trips in the neighborhood of 10-25 miles round trip.

To maximize battery longevity, I try to limit my SOC for charging to 80%, unless I need more capacity for a longer journey.

BMW does not allow a user selectable upper limit for charging sessions. I set a timer on my phone and try to guess. I have the charger plugged in to a smart outlet so I can end the charging session remotely through my phone. Sometimes I can look at the charging session in real time on the BMW Connect App, but I think that only works when the phone is linked to the CE-04's onboard wi fi..I could be wrong about that.

Do you think there is any chance that BMW could offer this capability as a future software/firmare update?

Appreciate any thoughts the community might have.

Congrats on the CE 04. I want one! I have been badgering the makers of our EV van here in the UK for a long time with zero response over this feature. Everything I read tells me that optimal battery condition is between 20-80% and we were surprised to find this is not a software feature. However, I have recently discovered that next gen ‘smart’ home chargers can be programmed via the inevitable app, to cut off at a predetermined state of charge, and suspect that most manufacturers will just palm off any enquiries by pointing you in that direction. It doesn’t help that just two years ago when we had our charger installed, this was not an option…

I have my doubts about this capability ever being added. BMW isn't known for firmware updates and already silently limits the CE 04 charge to 95% - even when you charge to 100%.

The range is already pretty limited, so I just charge it to 100% every time and forget about the rest. 6500 miles and countless charges into it and my cells are still healthy. I'll continue to charge my Tesla up to 80-85% where there is more slack space, even if Musk says 90% is fine too.

Thanks Triangletom. (Wondering where that name comes from or describes). Had my Ce04 6 months and am doing a lot of 20 k round trips, so have quickly got out of habit re recharging everytime. Let it get to about 35% charge at least and Recharge to around 90%. But if I forget and it hits 100% I can take some comfort in your 95% observation. Cheers from Oz. Merv

Thanks Triangletom. (Wondering where that name comes from or describes) ...
I'm obviously not @triangletom, but here's my guess. This is based on the many posts he's made describing his travels on his CE-04, i.e., his visits to particular (named) small towns, his searching for charging stations within and near them, and so forth:

1) His real name is Tom, or Thomas, or some name or nickname along those lines.

2) He lives in eastern North Carolina (a USA state), in the area of that state's "Research Triangle" -- see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_Triangle

We'll see if I'm right.
