BMW does not care about me

Ok, pretty much had the same issue. My C650GT has been in the shop a total of over 65 days. Here's the scoop; they replace the motor due to a casting issue, had oil leaking. Took a 4500 mile trip to TX with no problems besides my ride side front cover flying off 30 miles outside Amarillo, TX. My wife has a C600 Sport with no issues. After motor was replaced, I thought everything was going to be ok. I was wrong. The bike started stalling at slow speeds. Dangerous! After the 3rd time bake to the dealer for the same issue, I called Customer Service to have them buy back the scooter. I was told the only thing they could offer me was a direct replacement. So, I took a replacement. They couldn't offer the same color but I was ok with that. I should have the bike the second week of December. Believe me, if I have any issues with the replacement, I will contact BMW and my attorney. Good luck, keep on top of BMW, call them every other day if needed. They will come through. I have to maintain a certain loyalty to BMW since my wife also has one. I will update the forum with info on the new machine.

Good job Slic Bastard, a lemon should not be put up with. Mother BMW should sacrifice a few scooters off the assembly line and pull the parts from them. If they would have sent me my part in two weeks, I would still be riding my 2013 650GT. After 60 days, I am now riding a 2014 650GT. It was very frustrating.

Its been four months now, my BMW GT650 scooter is still sittting in the shop collecting dust at the dealership. No release date for parts yet. I have called BMW cutomer relations numerous times but they seem to ignore the issue. I am thinking to talk to an attorney about it if I dont hear anthing from them in next few days. I am never going to buy a BMW again in my life. I am having a horrible experience with them.

Faazi, I have worked for a motorcycle dealership many years, (NOT BMW) I am not an expert in this field, however, I have some input.

You need to find out specifically what part numbers are not available and get a hard copy from the dealers parts department.

Setup a meeting with the repair dealer and the district rep. They WILL do this. Ask the rep to escalate to Mother BMW.

What does your insurance company say about this situation?

Something just doesn't sound right. I've heard of there being supply chain issues for all kinds of products, but this just seems so extreme. I agree with the other poster, you need to get some specifics. What is the exact part and its identification number that is holding things up? How do you know it isn't the dealer that is playing games? Have you called other dealers?

BMW doesn't care about me either

IMHO, BMW has TERRIBLE customer service. I wont go too far into the details here, but I had a problem with my 2005 R1200RT. Soon after the standard warranty expired, the bike experienced a failure of the fuel strip. Very basically, the fuel strip sends a signal to the onboard computer advising the rider of how much fuel is remaining in the gas tank. In the BMW motorcycle community, my year and model in infamous for fuel strip failures. From what I have been told, there have been many thousands of these exact failures worldwide. BMW refuses to admit that there is any problem whatsoever. Because my motorcycle was out of warranty and they never performed any of the routine services (I do my own fluid changes, adjustments, etc.), they (BMW) weren't going to do anything for me.

Bottom line -
After 3 years struggling with this issue, I finally gave up and just recently paid the dealer over $325 for the new part plus installation which has a 2-year warranty. FWIW, I've read reports of other owners who have had to replace their fuel strips 3 or 4 times.

In my own personal experience, I've had far more success dealing with my local BMW dealerships than I ever had with the various Yamaha, Kawasaki and Harley Davidson dealerships I've had to deal with. YMMV.

So, just for yuks I went to the German BMW Motorrad site with the idea that maybe I could use the Google translator and send their Customer Service group a heads up about our forum and some of the issues we talk about. I mean, after all, what could it hurt, right?

Ahh, the innocence of it all...That included a search for German slang phrases to avoid (many of which I intend to use while throwing my leg up and over the pillion while mounting from the floorboard).

The results of this naive effort to promote world harmony among the global PTW community? My browser directed me to a site entitled: "Ganz schön Holz vor der Hütte!/der Tür". Turns out those crazy Germans are a fun lot after all.

Now, as I mount my GT, I only have to worry about any German tourists being within ear shot.

The isurance company already paid out the claim four months ago but they hv no knowledge about this situation. BMW dealership is also frustrated because they want to work on the bike and get it out of the way. I have already emailed and talked to mother BMW with part number, below is my email to BMW.

""""I purchased a brand new $10,000 2013 BMW GT650 scooter in July 2013. I got in an minor accident on Sept 11th, 2013 and insurance paid for the parts already. BMW dealership and I have been waiting for parts to arrive from Germany since last four months. This was the first BMW I purchased and I had a very bad experience with BMW brand because of this issue. I called the BMW motorrad customer service numerous times to replace my scooter or compensate me but nothing was done.
Please let me know what do I need to do to have BMW compensate me or replace my scooter before I take any legal actions.
2013 C650GT
Parts waiting for release date since 120 days –
Part # 46638529717 – Lateral trim Panel Front Right
Part # 33358525950 - Cover"""""

I called the BMW customer relations again today and they said it has been escalated to Mark in New Jersey. Dont know if anything is going to get done about it.

Well that IS where BMWNA's headquarters are, after all.

Yes, and while NJ would not have been my first call, it certainly would have been number 3 or 4; especially if nothing was resolved within a few weeks. I will say that my limited experience with BMW Motorrad customer service has been very good, including a response and subsequent followup to an email I sent re: IBKing's issues a month or two ago.

Faazi, I hope the end game works out positively for you as it has for others.

NOTE: I could tell you a real horror story about my fight with Toyota service that was eventually resolved with both of us getting hurt a little...shared pain just like marriage (yuk-yuk). Bottom line is that there can be issues, of course, but BMW is a quality company. They back their products whether they be 2 or 4 wheel. Problem may be that they honestly disagree with how your problem should be resolved.
