BMW GPS mount question

I had one of those ball mounts that attaches to the brake reservoir cover, with an 'x-grip' holder for my cell phone. I do not recommend this product as on a recent ride, the phone slipped off the holder, hit the pavement, and was destroyed. So now I am looking for a new way to securely mount a phone and my question is, can the BMW GPS nav base mounting hardware for a C650GT be modified to accept other mounting systems that would allow for a smartphone?

Cheers, Chris

Man, that sucks! As for the answer, I don't have one. I have an x-grip but haven't felt comfortable with it on the scooter. I use it in my car sometimes but no worries there.

Just curious, does RAM make a holder that is specific to your model of phone? I know for my GARMIN, there is a specific cradle and it is very secure.

That definitely sucks! I've used my Ram "X" mount a lot -- on the rumbly streets of New Orleans, 1,500 miles to Oregon and back, and lots more -- with no issues. The difference might be the case on my phone. I have a Otterbox Defender which has a rubberized outer case. Guessing it and the rubber grips on the "X" make it more secure.

Yeh, it was the ram x-grip. I am not too happy with Ram stuff at this point. I use a Proclip in the car, and am looking at their handlebar mount solutions. Trying to figure out a way to mount to the bars underneath the center handlebar cover, around the position where the BMW logo is.

I use an X-grip on the Triumph and have had zero problems through lots of miles. But like David said, I have a waterproof cover on my phone so, yeah, maybe that makes a difference.
