Coming Clean

I saw that SF bike. Priced ridiculous, unless that is just the market in SF. I'm aware of two in the fastest color that are lower miles, MUCH cheaper and much closer to me (Tennessee).

Dealer in Nashville has a '13 platinum with less than 300 miles that is absolutely cherry, plus 6 months of warranty remaining. Unfortunately it's platinum, which I do not care for.

My dealer dropped mine off his lift changing the rear tire. This happened early in August and I just got a call that it is ready. It was a mess and I am going to go over it with a fine tooth comb. He will have to deliver it or store it for me.

I may be in the market for a 2016 but will not buy a new toy.

Wow - that has taken forever. Mine had frame damage which was the final straw towards a total. Once I heard the extent, I wanted it to be a total.

...and you see the current BMW car ad on TV where they show their super-professional Dealership vs some Independent repair shop. Right . Give me the Independent every time; he CARES if you come back...

I just got an online survey for from BMW. I am trying to be reasonable but upset. I would like winter storage from the dealer and delivery in the spring as well as some remuneration from BMW for the 6 month loss of value for a product that depreciates faster than old beer.

I thought I would buy a new c650GT but I doubt I will. Am looking at Honda and Indian.

Prefer a scooter but would settle for a twin clutch auto. I sold Reeves cvt transmissions in the 60s and believe that cvt is not the answer to torque transmission. The Indian looks great but the Honda is an auto.

We will see in the spring.

Hey Kim,

Sounds like you'll be checking a few different things out at the Progressive show next month. I rode the Honda 700 with the dual clutch before getting the CGT. Interesting. The big Indian is, well, big and a rolling piece of art in my opinion.

You have your work cut out for you. Even if you end up with a new Beemer CGT. Then again, looking is a big bag of fun.

So watcha gettin?

I bought a 2013 GT, with 1900 miles and 2 months warranty remaining. Red, of course (fastest, after all). Nearly flawless paint - one small spot on right upper. Appears to be stock screen, though it did have a Wunderlich deflector (see thread below). Deflector works, but I find it annoying as crap, so will get new Aeroflow. Had the throttle lock that a guy makes for mostly BMW's. Will try to find the web site and link it. Seems to work a lot like the Throttlemeister I have on my BV350. Would prefer a true cruise, and prefer the look of the Throttlemeister, but this is better than nothing.

Great for me but somewhat depressing for those with a healthy chunk invested in these bikes - $6,005 (plus tax) out the door.

For anyone looking, there is a pretty sweet red 2013 GT at the Marysville (OH) Honda Powersports dealer. He came down to $6500 and claimed he was losing money (don't they all...). Has a Corbin saddle, GPS mount and appears to be different windscreen, but they couldn't tell me whose. 2200 miles and warranty to July.

Corbin saddle is wired for heat, but the bike is not so equipped (came original with the low seat). Talking to Corbin and believe the seat could be "hot wired" to battery with separate inline switch mounted somewhere to become functional.

Back to the original title of this thread: Perfect warm, slightly overcast day here on Long Island. Perfect day for washing the PTWs, so I guess I "came clean" today too. ;)
