Difference between C650Sport 2016 and 2017 model

Hi there,
so happy to have just discovered this forum!!
About to buy a C650Sport here in downunder.
I am getting somewhat conflicting info regarding the actual technical (and other) changes made to the 2017 model range, compared to the 2016 models.
Some say 'none' whilst a marketing blurb from BM stated several:

• New CVT set-up in conjunction with revised clutch linings for more dynamic clutch engagement and a more spontaneous take-off response.
• New suspension and damping set-up for an ideal compromise between sport and comfort.
In addition to ABS, ASC is also now standard for improved safety when accelerating.
• Completely new, dynamic design for the C 650 Sport.
• New silencer for a fuller sound and more dynamic appearance.
• New instrument dial design.
• New handlebar trim elements with chrome applications.
• New, higher-quality surfaces (with graining effects).
• Revised design of the center stand for easier use.
• New paint finishes for the C 650 Sport: Valencia Orange metallic matt, Lightwhite non-metallic and Blackstorm metallic.

Now I am wondering what is actually different between the 2016 and 2017 model as the 2017 demands a much higher price.
Anybody out there to help me see clear?
Much appreciated!

Welcome!

The 2017 C650 “Sport” and “GT” models are a direct carryover from the ’16 model year. But that is not a bad thing because all the updates and improvements you mention happened in 2016. And those were the first “redesign” updates since the machines hit the market in 2012. If you are new to motorcycles, you’ll find that manufacturers rarely change a particular product year-to-year as do car companies (except for possibly color options). Motorcycle companies do it every few years even though they will rebadge bikes with new product dates and prices.

Here are some links you may already have read; but if not, you’ll find them interesting:

Thanks Bornfree,

then I don't understand the substantial rise in the RRP? ONly for profit or is there more?
