Welcome from Louisiana!
I don't actually have my scoot in hand but it's coming next week.
Can't wait to ride it. Long rides throughout the country are my short term goals.
Anyone want to join me just holler.

Hey Jet,
Welcome to the forum. A good group here. Keep us up to speed on your impressions after you get a few miles on your new bike.

The weather has been cooperative this weekend and I've been able to put about 60 miles on the scooter. Here are my initial impressions, particularly in comparison to my Burgman 400.

1. Lots of power from the get go, which is a nice improvement. Just a lot easy to get started from a full stop with little or no "Wobblies".
2. ABS brakes and braking power overall is top notch.
3. Excellent handling and much more comfortable ride compared to my old Burgie. The larger wheels and better suspension make a huge difference.
4. Heated grips and heated seat spoils you very quickly.
5. Seat and ride height for me, at 6' 2", is perfect with much improved visibility.
6. Still not sure if the windshield is a keeper. The electronic adjustment helps, but I still get a fair amount of buffeting at speed.
7. Mirrors seem on the smallish side and take some time getting used to.

Overall, the scooter feels much more like a motorcycle than a scooter, and that's a good thing. I drive an e39 BMW and the scooter feels like I'm riding my car in terms of how it handles.

So far I am very pleased with the BMW scooter and look forward to putting many miles on it.

Welcome from the Deep South... of Oregon. I've had my GT for about a year and a half and am liking it more and more every time I ride it. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years but this machine is without a doubt the best scooter and one of the better bikes I've ever had. I get as good of weather protection from rain and cold as I did on my Goldwings. It's not quite as smooth as the GW on the highway but plenty comfortable and a lot easier handling in town or crowded parking lots. It's definitely a keeper.

Good to hear the comparison between the two makes of scooters! I'm down here in Southern Oregon over towards the coast on Hwy 199. I'm about to turn over 33K on my 2013 GT and loving it. I did add a 'wing' to the top of my windshield which made all the difference in the world to get rid of the buffeting. After decades of riding motorcycles, I decided to try something different. It has been fun.

+1 on the windshield. I have a CalSci medium. I re-tried the stock windscreen again this summer for kicks and confirmed why I needed something different. The taller ones give me an option for a "cone of silence" which I occasionally desire. I also found the CalSci works for my pillion to avoid buffeting (at least for the helmet) where the stock was zero pillion wind blocking even at full height.

The stock seat was only good for about 2 hours for me before I was uncomfortable so I got a Russell Day-Long and now I'm good.... for a full day. Wish I would have gotten it sooner.

I've been looking at both the Aeroflow and CalSci windshields as potential options. My Burgman had a Givi shield that was really too tall, but it did have the advantage of providing lots of wind protection and was pretty quiet. My initial sense is that a windshield that's a couple of inches taller would help.

And the Aeroflow

I have no experience with the CalSci.
