Hand Guards

Hi again everyone. Is anyone running with handguards? I got caught in the rain today without gloves and immediately realized I needed some. I'm wondering if there are any options that perform similarly to BarkBusters where you can place the larger shield on for the colder months and remove it in the warmer ones. I'll take any suggestions.

I got nuthin' for on handguards, re any personal experience, C 400 or not. Nor have I read anything about them in the world of the C 400. Wunderlich has a set (https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW_C400_GT_Hand_Protectors), but I don't think they have the dual functionality that you're looking for.

I hesitate to even discuss protective clothing, because that's a personal choice, and because we could all -- with the exception of MotoGP riders and suchlike -- gear up more. That said, if you should happen to want a recommendation of waterproof gloves, my endorsement goes to https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/reax-ridge-wp-gloves .

I've had these just shy of five years now, and they're my "go-to" gloves for cooler weather OR rain. I realize they're probably too hot for FL much of the time, but might work okay if a rainy day is also cooling off the high temps. I wrote a review of them at Revzilla; look for a five-star review by "William P" if you're interested.

Thanks Bill. I do wear gloves. Short boring story why I didn’t have them on my return. Actually, thinking about it I probably have a couple of grand into gloves in my cabinet or on my bikes…just none at that time.

Just purchased the Amazon version of these - identical except no Wunderlich engraved on them and no instructions. Luckily the Wunderlich ones are down loadable. Only one question - how easy is it to remove the plastics to get at the mounting point? Do you need to remove the mirrors? - the bike in the diagram has a slightly different mounting arrangement for the mirrors.

Please share the Amazon URL for the hand guards. I’ve been shopping on AliExpress but have not made up my mind.

TIA

This is in the UK but I assume there is a version wherever you are! In the end I got my dealer to fit them for me - they fit perfectly and the dealer actually assumed they were Wunderlichs . The mirrors do indeed come off and form one of the mounting points. There are four screrws and some clips to remove to take off the top fairing cover to get at the other two screw positions, and that's it. Very impressed and super protection from the weather.

@OldDog :

1) In the USA's Amazon site, these appear to be the same product (although more expensive, given the appropriate monetary conversion):

Well, the UK brand is listed as VERDDE, while the US brand is listed as SAGHOM, but the same pictures appear to be used.

BTW, I just pretended to buy these (stopping just sort of the final click or two) from the UK site, here in the USA, and even with shipping added it appears to be cheaper from the UK than from the USA (with free shipping as a Prime member):

Screenshot 2023-10-01 at 11.05.17 AM.png

That works out to a total of USD 71.71, according to Google.

2) If you have time to post some pics, from assorted angles, of the guards actually installed on your C 400 GT, I'd appreciate it (and I imagine other folks would, too).

Note that this site has an unusually small image file-size limitation of about 1MB. If you're not familiar with reducing photo sizes (or posting them), feel free to start a conversation with me, and I'll give you my email address. You could then email the pics to me, and I'll be glad to resize and post them (as I'm comfortable doing that sort of thing, have a lot of photo-related software, etc.).

I wonder whether there's any interference with the wider Wunderlich windscreen at handlebar full-lock.

Mine just touch the screen on full lock but literally a hairs breadth. Might adjust them a little at some point if the MOT tester does not like it.

Hopefully these will load.
Very sharp looking like the Wunderlich but at a fraction of the price.

I did find them on AliExpress as well for $38CDN.

Amazon.ca sells something similar for 3x the price at $118

Thank you for posting the link and photos!

I purchased these.

Installed them yesterday but took them off because they were hitting my windshield. It looked to me as they were taking up about 2 inches of steering travel on each side with my aftermarket CalSi windshield. That seemed excesive to me. I don't know how much it would actually affect anything but I don't have time to test it right now. The next time I ride this scooter will be in March at Bike Week and I don't want to get there and find out it is an issue that I have to deal with. I'll wait until Spring and retry them when I have time to mess around if its not right. (If anyone else besides OldDog is having this issue I would like to know what you think?)
