Hello from Kentucky

I am a long time married, life long rider who has aged away from MC's and toward scooters after many years of riding various brands. I'm very familiar with BMW bikes (still own vintage) after near 20 years of them but currently riding a 300 Vespa as my main ride.
I have particular interest in the new 2018 BMW C 400X mid-size scooter given my short legs & arms. I am a former pro-wrencher (helos, BMW cars, industry, military trucks, etc. and my own bikes) retired from tech and public educator, had 5 careers, been around the block, widely traveled and still enjoying an active lifestyle and hoping to ride much longer!
I perform my own maintenance & repairs in my own shop.
I'm going to make some calls toward a test ride of this new scoot to size it up. Many BMW Motorrad dealers don't keep scoots on their floor so I hear. My nearest dealer is 135k away and a few others are near our kids. I've done many fly & rides so my search windows fairly large but still, a test rides got to come first. Very little web information on this new scoot even on this forum!
I look forward to meeting new people here and leaning what I can. I'm often found on Modern Vespa and a regular on ADV too.
Again, hello from eastern KY (I'm really a Kansas boy at heart) :D

Hello to both of you! I went into the BMW scooter forum having an interest in the new 400 scooter. I decided to move forward in September and bought a new 2018 Vespa GTS 300. I still have a lingering interest in the BMW 400 but will have to try out the ergonomics before I'd go for one. The Vespa really fits my body best in the scooter world as I have short inseam and arms and scoots like the BMW 650's or Burgmans all are too big for my ergos. At age 75 I also like lightweight and easier to handle when pushing around in odd spots.
I have been riding in S VA, W NC and far SE KY, just got in. My new GTS has 745 miles, so can change out the break-in oil and gear lube plus I also have a dual USB port to install. I already placed the wiring for it when I wired my powerlet outlet so only another hole to do.

I have an aftermarket exhaust to install too. Delkevic, a UK brand that's top notch stuff-I want a good sound, not more sound.

Where are you in KY?
