Is the initial break-in service at 600 mi (1000km) worth it?

While riding the CE 04 yesterday, my navigation instructions got covered up with this huge message:

While the giant pop-up was easily dismissed, the orange triangle light will annoy me forever. I'm used to BMW having this initial break-in maintenance window for gas-burning vehicles, for example, to check for metal filings in the oil filter, but in an EV, it seems very strange. Does anyone know what BMW actually does during the 600-mile break-in maintenance for the CE 04? The page from the owner's manual looks like it was cut and pasted from their other motorcycles:

I've got to be honest - other than perhaps upgrading to the latest firmware, the initial 600 mi maintenance for the CE 04 seems either legal paranoia or a scam. By comparison, the maintenance schedule for my Tesla Y only calls for its first brake fluid check after 2 years of ownership. I'd be tempted to reset the maintenance light if I had an ODB->Bluetooth adapter.

In the interest of erring toward a safety inspection (something the US doesn't do), I opted for the 600mi running-in service, albeit at 900 miles. Here's what seems to be involved:

- Changing the final drive oil & gaskets (07119963252)
- Verifying chain tension
- Verifying coolant
- Checking tread depth

One thing I was surprised by was how different the tread depths were already at 915 miles: 5/32 vs 7.5/32. I didn't notice this until I left the shop, but I would have expected that they would have swapped tires at this point to even the wear out.

I also asked them to adjust the low beam (they did) and upgrade to the latest firmware. Apparently, the USA gets firmware updates after the EU, so no newer update was available. I was looking forward to the automatic turn signal cancellation that appears to be in the 13_13_20 firmware. All in all, it was 1.2 hours of labor and $264.

On the plus side, the dealer did charge the bike while they were working on it, but they only have 110V, so it only added enough charge for me to get to a fast charger.
