Issues closing the seat? C600

Hi everyone. This is my first post so bear with me...

Has anyone experienced issues closing the seat of their C600Sport? My does not make the satisfying "CLICK" of any previous scooters I've owned - instead, it seems to rest *inside* the latch, and I need to squeeze/push the rear around until I can hear a -barely audible- little click. Sometimes takes me a minute or two of fiddling just to get it to close. Opening, however, is no issue!

I'm thinking either the latch on the seat isn't deep enough, or there's a spring return or similar broken in the lock assembly, but thought I would ask here first in case this is a known design fault or even just how its supposed to work?

Thanks all!!

My spring came off on one side of the latch and it had difficulty latching. It seems like it hardly exerts any pressure but it does something.

On my GT the seat closes easily if I push down and sideways, right to left when facing towards the back of the scooter.

When it closes, how loud is your "click" - is it about as loud as when you open the seat? I know it's an absurd question, but it just seems like my latch mechanism is defective. Every other scooter I've owned has provided a very satisfying CLICK when you either drop the seat (not from a great height! usually just a few inches above the lock assembly) or guide it home. On the C600, dropping the seat does nothing; I have to basically fiddle with the seat while the latch is clearly inside the assembly, and after a while I'll hear the faintest of little clicks.

I have a hard time believing that's normal - and if it is, shame on BMW!

My latch does not make a sound when I open or close it.

When I twist the key to unlock the seat I hear a definite "click" from the rear of the seat as the latch is released. When I shut the seat I hear a distinctive "click" letting me know it's locked (though I always pull up on it to double-check).

I can hear a click when I close the seat, but it's so faint and sounds like it's hardly closed - though I always pull it up to double check as you do.

When I close the seat, the click is about as loud as the click of a pen, nothing at all like when I open the seat :(

Anyway, will get the dealer to check it out when it goes in for service. Thanks all!

Exactly what he said^^^^^^^^^^

Take the key out before you close the seat to make sure the key isn't sticking slightly in the actuated position to the right. I have found my key sticking that way lately. AND of course try lubricating the latch, it might be sticking open.

I added the Keebler V-15 latch upgrade that makes an announcement through the integrated stereo speakers found inside the left glove box when the seat is unlatched or the trunk is too full for the seat to close properly. The system is available in multiple languages and characters but my favorite is the "Mr. T" that bellows in a gruff voice, "Fool...The latch ain't hooked up."

Most important thing is that the click is NOT followed by a very loud "OH XXXXING XXXX IT!!" when you realise you've just locked your keys in there ;)

That is why I have a piece of wire connected to the seat latch mechanism - if my keys get locked in, I can access the other end of the wire (not obvious to anyone not looking for it) and give it a gentle tug and Voila, seat is unlatched. See second page of this thread.

I don't have the 600 but so far the GT seat latch seems to be working well. My two riding buddies have to push their Silverwing seats down forcibly to get them to latch. I think that's due to excessive flex in the seat pan.

My problem is opening the seat...
When I first got it.. Turn the key it would pop open
Now turn the key, nothing... Now I have to turn the key while opening to make it pop up
If that makes sense LOL. Dealership explained a few others were having the same issue but no recall or fix
Will keep you posted

Keep your keys in the ignition until the seat is closed. Problem solved.

If I close my seat too fast, it will just bounce off - I've got to very deliberately close the seat for the lock to slide home. I suspect lubricating the latch with some graphite might do the trick.
