Hello,

I just changed my post from before.
I just realised in the us you use miles.
I live in europe, so
Will have a big difference if we talkabout how long a tyre will last.

André
So when you get your new tires look on the side wall of the tire you will see numbers such as (0214 or (1014) these numbers are the month and year they were made Feb. 2014 or Oct.2014 each month and year will change you what to get the newest year tires you can tires 5 years and older are out of date and should not be sold. The older the tires are they dry out and get hard not good for traction or wear

Hi BLSKN,
Wow, Kuwait! are you still in Ramadan or Hari Raya? I know in Singapore they have just started or just finished, can't remember. If you have that holiday as well, I hope it goes well for you.

For the tire change, you may want to switch to the Pirelli that the sport uses. I am not sure what the actual lean angle is, you might want to take it easy and slowly lean further and further over a week or two; then have a look at your rear tread and see where you are scuffing the tire. that could give you an idea of how far you can go. I ride my sport pretty aggressive and still have 10mm un ridden tread on the edge of the tire.

hope that helps.
Riding a Sport, I am unimpressed with the Pirelli's. I am not a really aggressive rider (at least I don't think I am) and I still slide these tires way more then any MC tire I have ever used. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I believe the first 2 digits of that four digest number wsteele noted above is "weeks" of the year, not months. Not a big difference, but "1014" would be March 2014, not October 2014.

I have just passed 4k and my metzlers are cupped real bad go around a corner and sounds like bearings are smoked
i sell car tires for a living so I get it
the tires are square
I lean into every corner i can and I do it 2 up all the time cant believe how good it handles
I think the load has something to do with the wear. but they are getting real bad. still have lots of tread but just very cupped don't know how long we can go with them
for the record may be half inch of chicken strips left cant seem to get the last bit off
man can this thing turn a corner

Your right I don't know why I was thinking months I was also doing some billing while I was writing the post thanks for correcting that.

I've only ridden on Bridgestones on my GL1800 and they were bad news in the wet. In rainy weather the rear wheel kicked out several times when accelerating and crossing a white line on the freeway. Getting sideways isn't much of a deal on a dirt bike but with a 900lb. one it's exciting. Seems the choice is a hard composition tire for long life but watch out in the twisties and wet roads. Softer types like Metzlers seem to be a good compromise. At least on the larger bikes and I expect the scooter versions of those kinds of tires to do much the same but with a bit less cupping.

Those white lines are ALWAYS going to be slippery no matter what tire you're using. They're painted with teflon-based paint so dirt doesn't stick to them. When they get wet, they are downright treacherous.

Holy CRAP! Are they trying to kill us?

As for as how far any bike can lean, when you hear grinding noise that's about it. I used to replace those little hard steel skip pieces under the pegs of my Goldwings about yearly and often scraped the center stand in the turns. On my 650GT sometimes it looks like the handlebar ends would hit the ground first. Great little machine in the twisties. No chicken strips on my tires.
