(mumble mumble) Valve Stems (mumble mumble)

Replaced Snoopy's front tire and installed a new valve stem last night. On the test ride we heard a "clicking" noise coming from the front end. My friend said I should check it so I got on the bike and noticed a red flashing triangle on the dash indicating low air pressure.

Turns out the valve stem we used was too long and was hitting the brake caliper (the "clicking" sound we heard). The low air pressure warning was because eventually all that hitting resulted in our new valve getting cracked. Too late, I remembered someone here having that same issue.

So now Snoopy waits on my friend's lift and tomorrow I have to head over to the dealer to get the right short, stubby valve stem for him. Think I'll buy a few to have on hand.

Well, I was hoping SOMEBODY would've had an answer for me, but it turned out to be a moot point; the local Cycle Gear didn't have any of those valves in stock. So, this morning I headed over the BMW dealer and bought four stems just to have them on hand. The floorboard rubber also arrived today from A&S Cycles, so that went on Snoopy too and he's safe and sound back in his own garage again.
