Need some advice

Stopped by the local BMW Dealer in St. Louis hoping to purchase a 2014 650 today. Really wanted a black one with the Highline package. What they had was the "Havanna metallic" also known as brown. I wasn't crazy about the color once we got it outside. They had a 650 in stock was black, but it had the low seat and therefor no heated seat. I didn't find the seat as comfortable and don't need the lower seat. Really want the heated seat as well. They don't have a black one coming in and didn't see one close enough to trade for (closest one 5 hours away). They have a Blue one coming in soon which might be OK. I can't see it until it gets there but did see the same color on a 1200 and it looked OK. They offered to switch all the panels between the brown and black models so that I could get the black with the Highline package. Did say he'd take off $171 if I went with the blue one but would do the switch if that would close the deal. Told him I wanted a couple days to think about it. See any issue with them switching all those panels between the brown and black? The only downside he offered was that the paperwork would say I bought a brown one even though it's black. That doesn't really bother me.

Has anyone seen the blue and able to offer any feedback on that color?

I plan on holding on to this for many years so really want to get the one I want. But not likely to get a black one unless they switch the panels. Wish I could see the blue, but it will be a couple of weeks. He told me they only sold 8 scooters in 2013 so not likely it will sell out from under me. But the weather is warming up and I'd like to get this deal done. He did offer what seemed a fair trade for my Honda PCX 150. Could get more if I sold it, but not enough to make it worth the hassle.

Appreciate any feedback from you experts!

I can't see a problem with changing the panels. In servicing the scooter some of those panels will be removed anyway. The paperwork doesn't matter since you could have repainted the bike at any time and the paperwork wouldn't show that. It's the VIN that's important anyway. If you really like the black one go for it.

Wouldn't it be easier to just swap the seats??

That's what I asked. But he said they would need to reroute electronics since the control would have to get placed on the grips with the wiring run back to the seat. Not as easy as I was thinking. One of the guys from the shop came out and said they could get all the panels swapped in less than 2 hours.

Either black is a popular color or very unpopular. He checked and said at this time there are none heading in to country (US) otherwise he could request and reroute one. He also said at this location (St. Louis) they only sold 8 a total of 8 scooters all of last year. Think I'll just tell him I want a black one and let him figure out the best way to get it. Of course, if he takes a couple of weeks and by then the blue one arrives maybe I'll like that...

Thanks all. It's a done deal. Gateway BMW in St. Louis a very easy dealer to work with. Consummated the deal over the phone including trading in my Honda PCX 150. Pick it up next Tuesday assuming it's not snowing.

Good, you're going to like that bike. I'm finding mine to be a lot better than I'd hoped for. Too bad it isn't the fastest color like mine.:)
