New BMW C650 GT plan to ride home from dealer

The ride home will be 150 <> miles. I have read on here to stay below 7000 rpm for first 600 miles. That seems kinda high. However I will vary the speed/rpm and take a few little rests along the way. On flat ground if I don’t exceed 60 or 65 mph what rpm am I looking at ? I have very few secondary roads where I can run 45-55. I can’t plan too long of a ride home since my son will be taking me to the dealer the morning I pick up my new GT. Thanks for any replies.

Yes; at 65 you'll be operating at speeds that do not drive engine RPMs above 7K on the C400GT (presuming thread title is incorrect).

Yes , sorry I meant to type C 400 GT. My bad. Good news as I would rather ride it home than trailer it 150 miles. More fun and that much closer to break in mileage (600?). I intend to vary rpm, run up a bit , back off, constantly varying the speed/rpm. And my first oil change will be 300 <>. Miles. This will be my 32nd motorcycle/scooter. So I’ve done a few break in runs and always with good results. Thanks for your replies.

You'll be fine. (And be mindful of those slick tires for the first, oh, ten miles or so.)

Here's the relevant page in the owner's manual:

Oh, and if you watch the first few and last few seconds of this test I did last fall, just to check out the max down-hill speed of the bike, and see what the tach had to say at such times, you can see that you can ride at a reasonable back-road speed, certainly, under 7,000 RPM. Those first and last few seconds were on almost level ground (note the altitude number on the right), while the higher-speed stuff in the middle was all downhill:

Thank you for the info. I just didn’t know what MPH the 7k rpm equated to. Thanks again. It will be fun riding home from the dealer.
I just edited my post above, including a video to help you out with that. Refresh the page or something ...

Excellent! Thanks for the video. A max of 6 k rpm should work for me on the roads I need to travel home. I can probably run between 45-55 for about 40 miles of my 150 mile back home ride.
