Greetings to all. This is my first post and I don't yet own a BMW scooter. I'm a long time BMW m/c rider, and currently own one vintage bike from the 1950s. The C650GT really interests me, but I was wondering if there are any significant differences in 2013, 14 or 15 model year scooters? Maybe BMW has fixed a few things along the way (or not). Differences other than paint schemes are of interest.

Cheers,
Chris

AFAIK the only difference is with colors and they changed out a few of the body panels from painted to matte black on the 2014 and 2015 models. I believe they're all the same mechanically. There have been a few recalls to 2013s but those were fixed in later years.

Thanks for the info davidh. I see you are in Northern Calif. I'm in Sonoma County, and have been looking for C650GT to test ride. There seems to be a lack of inventory at the dealers I've checked with, though I hear that there is one place in SF that rents them.

BMW seems to have pretty much cleared up the small problems with the first couple years. My '13 is running beautifully. I've had two other maxi scooters, Silverwing and Burgman. To me the BMW is the best of the bunch. I'm not overly enamored of the styling but the bike handles better than the other two brands. It's quicker in handling and speed as well. The features like electric windshield, heated grips and seats, tire pressure monitor, et. al. make it very nice in both cold and warm weather. The ABS is very good especially in wet weather. I don't think you can go wrong with a GT. I don't believe there's any difference in the GT models other than a couple minor cosmetic changes.

Don't forget to look at the C600 sport. I got a white 2014 and love it! All personal preference but I hated the GT when I looked and found the sport and love it.

I live in Napa and got mine from BMW of SF. When I was there for service there were no scooters and said they can't get them. Who knows. The sales rep believed the next one they'd get would be a 2016. If it was me - I'd get a used GT. Seems to be enough around.

I ordered a new one from Santa Rosa BMW. The Sacramento area dealer had one in the color and with the highline package. Should be here next week.

Hey player....As a long time BMW M/C guy, I think you'll be surprised at how similarly the CGT handles when compared to what you've been riding. Like a lot of folks, you might actually prefer it.

And don't pay any attention to those C600 guys. Just a bunch of scoundrels and scallywags. They swoop into town, drink all our beer and steal all our women.

:D

Very cool! I think I know the exact one you're getting; I saw it at A&S PowerSports a couple of weeks ago. Be sure and post pictures and don't be a stranger!

Will post pics and impressions when I get the bike. The color is what they call "quartz blue metallic". Seems like it has a lot of grey in it. Was able to get the current BMW incentives which are essentially the high-line package for free, plus an additional $500 off msrp. Plus the dealer threw in some $$$ to sweeten the deal.

Today, my thoughts are going between "OMG, what did I just do", along with "I can't wait to take delivery and get out on the road"!

Cheers,
Chris

I liked my GT too much. I found I wasn't riding my K1100LT much, preferring the more comfortable GT. I'll admit the LT was more satisfactory in the engine sound department but the scooter is just easier on my aging knees. It does handle the twisties pretty close to as well as the flying brick did. I think you'll like yours too. To bad it isn't in the fastest color though.

Picked up the GT yesterday morning. First ride was 15 freeway miles to work which was nice as it gave me some long straight sections to kind of feel it out. My ride home was a combination of secondary roads and a few twisties. It didn't take long at all to start feeling comfortable, and I must say it does handle very nicely. Fiddled around with the storage and it actually does take 2 full faced helmets when you put them in just right. I'll post some pics and more thoughts soon, but so far I'm loving it.

You'll like the Oakville Grade ride! Perfect for the GT.

We have some nice roads around here. Hwy 1 through Tomales town south to Bolinas or west to Dillon beach are always fun. As is Hwy 1 north to Jenner and beyond. Best to ride early as the roads are much less congested. if anyone is up this way and want to ride, let me know.
