You can put a top box on a sport too! The difference in capacity under the seat really isn't that much.Tighter, more compact fairing but more unfriendly looking. I just got back from the supermarket and am glad I have a GT with the top box. The Sport looks like fun but not if it means I have to take the Jeep on errands like grocery shopping and such. The GT isn't far behind the Sport in performance but a lot more useful in utility.
Clearly a choice had to be made: Sporty looks v. GT storage. I haven't needed the extra storage but I would like it.
The frame is slightly larger, which probably accounts for the weight difference, along with the larger body panels, although a minor weight increase. And seriously, once you strip off the bodywork, the two scooters are EXACTLY the same. Same engine, same suspension, same frames, same steering geometry, etc. You don't give up ANY of the Sport's handling by buying the GT, but you DO lose the GT's utility by buying the Sport.
