Has anyone added accessories and used something like the Denali PowerHub rather than going straight to the battery? If so where did you put it?

A system like that is a good way to go, and it has a relay which is a bonus if you are forgetful. There are quits a few systems like this on the market, all expensive, so shop around.
I would advise getting a book on 12volt electrical systems if you don't have much experience. If you short something accidentally it could be expensive.
I have built systems for myself, like this, and if you have a good electronics store near you, there is good savings to be had.
