protective film

Hello listers,
I am in the process to get some clear protective film made for my 2017 Sport here in Melbourne, downunder.
I searched high & low but couldn't find any 'kit' for this scoot. Most kits are for let's say more common bikes.

This film is clear, some plastic stuff, not sure yet exactly what it is made from.
It's aim is to protect the paint work and, for me, especially the bit where one steps over. It always get's scratched easier. Whilst I don't mind the bike looking dirty or even 'used', I equally like to extent its appearance as good and as long as I can. Feels good to ride on a shiny one.

I found a small company here in Melbourne who specialises on this type of product for motorcycles. Indeed they claim to work with several beemer dealers to make their demo-bikes look good for longer. Moreover they offer this service also for several (but not the scoots) bm models - see here: http://www.ozishield.com.au/motoshield - and a few others brands.
I had a long conversation with the guy and he hasn't got anything for the C650GT, nor Sport models, but was interested enough to develop a pattern that would snug-fit the 2017 Sport. Apparently one can apply these patterns oneself, alternatively it can be done by the expert. ...well, you would need to be in Melbourne, Australia ...;)

I wonder if anybody has done something similar and like to get some feedback. Moreover, there might be interest in this community to obtain one.
Now, let me assure you that this is not my bro-in-law, neither my 2nd cousin, just somebody who may have a solution to my problem (protecting the paintwork).
Any thoughts?

toomuchvinyl, thanks for the link - interesting. Here in Australia I just spoke to 3M, They happen to have their factory in the same town ;)
The recommend one of their products called Scotch Gard Paint Protection Pro Series. A polyurethane film designed for external application in the automotive industry. Here's the link: http://http://solutions.3m.com.au/wps/portal/3M/en_AU/Scotchgard_Paint_Protection/Film/
I shall wait what the chap comes up with and then compare it to a DYO approach.
Shall report back

I've been interested in this since reading the webbikeworld blog on the 2013 GT ( http://www.webbikeworld.com/bmw-c-650-gt/paint-protection/ ). If someone offered correctly cut film at a price I could afford I'd certainly consider it.

I installed it on a couple panels (the filler cap and "U" shaped piece) and ended up removing it when it got scuffed/torn from getting on and off the bike. It's much easier to keep it well-waxed and buff out any boot marks that happen. The 3M product is also a huge pain to remove, as I found out when it got shabby looking and pulled it all off. I definitely wouldn't do it.
