Question regarding tire wear.

So I purchased a new front tire (Metzeler FeelFree) which I was planning to place on the bike at my 6K mile service (currently at 5700mi).

After looking at the wear bars on the new tire it looks like my current tire has a good amount of thread left. I wanted to get your opinion. Pic below. Do you feel I have more mileage left on this or should i change it in 300mi.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hard to tell from a picture. My experience - when you can start to see the wear bars, the rest of the tread is going quickly. You may have 500-1000 miles or maybe longer. I err on the conservative side - I'm not going to skimp on the onlly 4-6 square inches holding me upright. Plus, how much is your time worth if you already have service scheduled?

Looks to me that you have around 2000 miles or so left in that tire. If it's not difficult or time consuming to get a tire changed at your dealer why not run that one longer and then have it changed. It would cost pretty much the same either way, and tossing a tire with a good bit of miles left in it is like tossing money away.

Agree regarding leaving tread on a tire as wasted money. Just want to make sure I just the entire tire before i replace.

What tire pressure you running with and if you don't mind what weight range are you in as your mileage is quite good compared to others I have heard on there scooters. I got about 10,000 on my front and picked up a screw at 12,000

I got 12,000 miles on my front tire and my rear still has tread at 16,500 miles.

Front: 36 - 38
Rear: 44

I also probably spend too many miles on the slab going 65 mpg in a straight line.
