Receiver Hitch Hauler?

Any recommendations for / against / brand for a receiver hitch hauler for the CE 04? Would be on a RAM 1500 with the following: max trailer weight rating: 11,290 - Payload: 1,800 - Tongue weight should be around 1,000. Rather not kill the entire covered bed use (mostly filled with light weight but bulky gear I’d rather keep there and covered) so the receiver idea looks good on first glance.

What class of hitch is on the Ram? Class 4 maybe, class 3 no. That bike weighs about 500 lbs and that would be max on the class 3. The other thing to keep in mind is that these hitch carriers are dead loads, there is no counterbalancing of the weight by the weight of the trailer on the other side of the wheels. Also keep in mind how far back off the hitch the center of gravity of the bike will be. The farther out, the greater the moment arm or twisting force will be.

Me, I wouldnt do it. Max weight of a bike I would put on one of those carriers is about 3-400 lbs. YMMV
