Roadside Assistance Recommendations?

Hi everyone. My first year BMW roadside assistance is up in mid-August, and I'm trying to decide on whether to sign up with BMW to renew it, or look elsewhere. If anyone can offer recommendations for good nationwide, or Northeast roadside assistance companies, I'd sure appreciate the info. Thanks.

Join the American Motorcyclist Association. Besides adding your voice to their lobbying efforts in Washington, your membership includes free Roadside Assistance.

By the way, I'd double check but I'm pretty sure your free Roadside Assistance from BMW (at least in the US) is for THREE years, not just one...

Update: If you just join for a year it doesn't include the Roadside Assistance. If you join for a year and include automatic renewals, then you do get the free Roadside Assistance:

Thanks for the info. I have seen the AMA site and it looks first class. I do have an email in to the dealer to get clarification. Hopefully I am just mistaken and it's 3 years. Always appreciate your sharing the knowledge you have Jaime. And Doraemon, I did check AAA. Some chapters/many chapters do offer motorcycle coverage. Southern New England chapter doesn't. We're pretty backwards in this part of the world sometimes.......

Try your Costco if you are a member. In Canada the Costco plan covers all drivers/riders in the home and all the vehicles in the home for a fee lower than any competition.
Further and more tows and more service calls. I do not know if Costco in the states has an offer like this or if this is a Canadian deal.

Wow! I just discovered I actually have RoadSide Assistance as part of my Progressive Insurance Plan! I wasn't even aware of it. Fancy that!

They will tow you to the nearest service location, if you have your own you may have better choice

That's pretty much what they all do, isn't it? I believe MoTow (the AMA service) and Roadside Assistance give you the option of towing you home if you're within the allotted distance. I could be mistaken on that. I do know they will take you to the nearest authorized servicing center.

Not sure what caused it. I even called to ask if there was some sort of mistake. I have a decent credit score, no accidents, violations or claims since I can't remember when and I was 57 years old at the time. Didn't even have a loan on it, paid cash.

Holy Cow!!, I went through an insurance broker when I bought the sport. I just renewed after an incident free year for $260 with progressive.

The C650GT was a LITTLE more expensive to insure than the TMAX, but I think that had more to do with engine displacement than anything else. The TMAX was also a 2009 model, and the C650GT was a 2013. I even pointed out the C650GT had ABS, whereas the TMAX didn't. It wasn't anywhere NEAR $3,000 though... that's INSANE. Are you sure they heard you right??

Insurance companies seldom make any sense. I got into a SCREAMING argument several decades ago with Allstate (my insurer at the time). I had traded in my VW Rabbit Convertible for a brand new, 1988 Subaru GL Turbo station wagon. They WOULDN'T even give me a quote because the car had a turbo charger.

I asked him if they'd insure a Mustang SVO, and they said sure, and they could give me a good rate on one too. This is where the screaming came in: "YOU MEAN YOU'LL INSURE A 350HP SPORTSCAR, BUT YOU WON'T INSURE A 120HP STATION WAGON?????"

I switched to State Farm (who didn't give two shits about the turbo charger, or the fact that the car had four wheel drive... something else another company wanted to ding me for) and I've been with them ever since.

I pay less than $300/yr to insure my GT through State Farm. Sounds like that might be on the low side compared to some others....Christian's superior skill set saves him even more at Progressive :). I do insure a few cars, couple motorcycles, houses, umbrella policy, etc through State Farm so they sure better give me a decent price. And, yeah, I have roadside assistance, but will have look into that to find out exactly what that means with my specific policy here in Ohio.

I insure my two bikes with full coverage for $ 509.00 a year that maybe because they know you probably will not be driving them from mid Nov. to about April 1 or later here in the Mtns. Of VT.

I have roadside assistance thru Verizon Wireless for $3.00 per month. I specifically asked if it covers motorcycles and I was told it does, and it covers any vehicle you are with. I've never had to use it so I can't say if it is any good. They only tow 10 miles for free, after that it's by the mile.
