Sargent Seats

Just got off the phone with Sargent. Was informed they will NOT be pursuing the development of a seat for the BMW scooters. Waiting on Corbin to see what they come up with.

I don't want an alteration of the stock seat. I'm looking for a replacement.

By "alteration" I'm assuming he means keeping the base pan (so it'll still mount properly on the scooter) but completely changing the seat shape/foam/cover, etc. This is basically what Russell does. There is a local shop here on Long Island (Phoenix Saddles in Franklin Square, NY) that does the same thing. They do excellent work, too.

That was something that I was wondering. Which is why I suggested Pirate, considering they are a 100% custom shop, you could have a bespoke saddle made to your specific specs. When you said " I don't want an alteration of the stock seat. I'm looking for a replacement." I then assumed that you must have damaged your stock seat. Sounds like you are looking for a "more comfortable" seat. I still would think that a custom shop would be able to sort out your needs, even if they specialize in radically custom designs they certainly have the skill set and tooling to make whatever your bum requires.

I have used after market seats on most of the bikes I have owned at quite a bit of cost, So instead of getting a new seat for the c650 gt I have ordered my second Air Hawk seat pad a lot less expensive and I still can use the existing seat for short runs of 100 miles and with longer runs I use the Air Hawk I can go all day on the bike. Not bad for and $80.00 dollar item.

I find the distance from the backrest in the furthest back position going forward that there is entirely too little seat for me. If you measure it you'll find it's very small. After my very first ride I removed the backrest all together. But then there is that mounting piece for the backrest still there.

I feel BMW stock seats most are inadequate, although I have enjoyed a few of them. This one has me squirming after about 90 minutes so there is no way I would even consider an overnighter or a few days out. I did try my Airhawk and also a sheepskin cover but still no good for me. Guess I'll see what Corbin comes up with.

I got the Red Hawk R. Like they said, the minimum amount of air is the sweet spot. Then there was some fussing with exactly where to position it so it doesn't seem to lean forward or backwards. Once in the right position it was all good. It is a game changer for me so far as the pressure points are removed. Most comfortable ride I've ever experienced. I think my wife will demand one for the back soon.

I have the same problem with the seat. With the backrest on it's to short, and with the backrest off it would be perfect except for that mounting piece. I've had several thoughts, but have implemented none of them. One was going to a local seat custom shop and having them make a piece to cover over the mounting piece with cushion. Another was to bite the bullet and have Russell re-do the seat. I did think of checking with Corbin, but for that price I'd be better off going to either Russell of Seth Lamm, I think.

Well, FWIW, I am constantly amazed at how well the ergonomics and the seat on my C650GT fit me. At 6'2" and 210lbs I find most bikes cramped. But, of course, everyone's body type is different and it is understandable that what fits one guy/gal may not fit another. That's a good reason to test the C600, Burgmann 650 and 400 and depending on location one of the other great maxi's out there.

Just don't expect any of them to be as good as a vermillion red C650GT. ;)
