Hello all
I did email BMW about the 2 issues i am having with my 2016 BMW C 650 GT. I told them that i have a clicking sound that now
sounds like valves tapping. Also the lagging in the rear i think that's from the transmission? I also told them i just had the 6 k
service check up and the BMW Tech did hear it. But that day i brought the bike in the lagging was NOT there I emailed BMW
earlier this week. Friday rolled around and i was working and a BMW rep. called me but i did not hear the ph. Saturday rolls
around and there is a message from the BMW Rep. So on Monday i WILL call the Lady back to see IF they can help???
I WILL give them all the info they need. My bike is only 6 yrs old and has only 6.200 miles on it which is true.
Wish me luck

I've since sold my scooter, but I had that same "rattle" when I had mine. It would go away once the bike ran a few miles (warm-up) and yes, it sounded like the valve lifters needed adjusting. It sometimes sounded even worse, like piston slap or even a rod that was flopping around. It always cleared up and ran fine once I rode a couple of miles. Sold the bike before I ever had it looked at so I'd be curious to find out what they tell you.
oh, FWIW I had the same year and model.

I don't know IF BMW headquarters would help me out with these 2 issues? Now the clicking sound is
getting worse even at a full stop it will do that for a couple of minutes like you stated.. I will fill everyone in
on these issue IF BMW takes care of the problem. IF NOT then i will sell the bike

I just got off the ph. with a BMW Rep at headquarters they ran the vin no and said the bike
is out of warranty. They would NOT help at all. The dealer would work on it but that would cost $110. per hr
for them to tear down the motor. it would come out of my pocket with the 2 nd issue samething.. I was
hoping for a better out come. I bought a LEMON and i did not know it til 3 months after i purchased it from
another person.. So now it maybe time to look for another BMW C 650 GT premium model. So i do NOT
freeze to death when riding in the cold. There are the Bergman 650's executives that i do believe have
the grips heated. But if i remember right the seat is higher then the Silverwing scooter

That sucks if you have a lemon. Although BMW corporate doesn't sound like they're being unfair. They can't fix every six year old bike that has an issue.

I've owned three Burgman 650's (2013 and two 2016's) and four Honda Silver Wings. Burgman has heated grips and seat plus electronic wind screen like the BMW scooter. Super smooth transmission, sounds like a commercial jet taking off, only 3500 rpm's at 60 mph. Handles like a bathtub on wheels at low speed, though, and suspension is teeth-rattling compared to BMW GT. It has better storage than the GT with a bigger trunk under the seat and three glove boxes -- one has a live 12V power socket like the BMW.

I'd never buy another Honda Silver Wing. Basically 2001 technology unchanged through the final year of production in 2013. Nothing is heated. American models have an empty hole instead of a 12V socket. Fixed-position windscreen is too low with OEM and too high with a GIVI screen. People talk about reliability and it's easy to work on but my four BMW C650 GT's have been more reliable and they're definitely easier to work on. I'm sticking with the GT 110%.

Yes I know it sucks but you know BMW headquarters. Sean the rep would NOT help at all. I just went to f/b
market place and found another 2016 for sale with extras 11k mileage and the premium model n
black like ours.. The guy put a taller windscreen on the bike a givi i do NOT like the taller windscreens tho.
Silverwings are outdated big time but there are LOTS of them out there even the Bergman 650's. I am not
perticuler on the Bergman look at all. Never picked up on me like the silver wing or t zhis BMW looks
more like motorcycle. I have never drove a REAL motorcycle so that's a death wish i want to avoid That's
to much POWER

Did the tech tell you it was the valves tapping when you last brought it in? What specifically are you referring to with "lagging"? Is that some time of hesitation or does it feel like the engine is missing or misfiring?

In pre covid times you might have taken a bit of a beating on selling it. Not sure about right now. If you do sell it, Karma might suggest being upfront about a potential issue with the engine. You could also take it to the dealer and tell them you want them to look into it but limit how much you want to spend, say 500 or so. When I had my R1200 it had a bit of a miss and being new with the bike, I wasnt keen on digging into it. So when I had new tires put on by the dealer (and they gave me a very good price compared to mail order), I mentioned the issue. Turns out it was a vacuum leak and they fixed it for 60 bucks more.

Between a Burgman and Swing, I would go with the Swing. Much more bulletproof and even it its 2003 tech, it still works fine. I had the Givi adjustable screen and I could drop it all the way down or keep it high up to keep the wind off. And you can put heated grips on anything, so that is not really an deal breaker either. Good luck whatever way you go.

I did ride a friends Bergman 650 yrs ago and i had to get all the way to the front of the seat t o flat foot.
Which i do that on my BEEMER now On the Bergmans back then 2007 that i rode i felt the gears shifting and
to me that was weird lol The executives have all that on our bikes you mentioned.. I maybe able to get the $$$
to fix my bike not out of my pocket either and NO stealing. I need to talk with my brother.

The Tech checked the valves at 6k mileage and he did HEAR the what sounded like valves tapping. But it's not he said it was something down in the motor by the crankshaft. I am not very good at explaining stuff so bare with
me. The lagging issue is when i take off from a start it feels like something in the transmission that is holding
it back slightly. it hesitates the motor sounds good. there are times that i have felt that lagging issue til i get
above 39 mph There was 1 other person here that had the lagging issue and he sold the bike

I talked to my Brother n he said ride it til the bike dies. So that's what i am going to do. Seems like that
CLICKING SOUND is going away some. I will keep you all updated on this.
