Something new coming from Yamaha?

When in Paris this last November I saw a great number of Piaggio MP and other 3-wheel bikes. I was told by a Frenchman that they are popular because it is easier to get a license to operate a 3-wheel bike than a 2-wheel bike.

Much like the MP3's I think it is for short range, unless you like the small footwell. I like the MP3 500, I thought about getting one, until I saw how small the foot pads were.

I also have a very hard time putting the words "Italian" and "Reliable" together in the same sentence...

That promo is for Yamaha's version of the Piaggio MP3. MP3's look funny but they are actually a very nice machine to ride. I just sold a 500cc MP3 and bought a 2014 BMW C650 GT and even though I love this new BMW I do miss some of the features of the MP3. The MP3 lacked anti-lock brakes and that was one (but only one) of the reasons I got the BMW.

I have been riding since the mid 60's, and have owned many different bikes, but so far I like this BMW better than anything I have ever owned..........but then again I am in my late 60's so the latest high horsepower bikes aren't important to me any more.

Amen to that one brother. As I said on another forum discussing senior discounts:

I'm more or less at peace with aging since there are no good alternatives. I'd give up all the discounts however to be a kid of 50 again. So I ride my scooters and enjoy the fact that the open road and wind don't know I've grown older.

Back to 50 again?

No not me, that would mean I would have to give up my retirement and go back to work. Don't get me wrong, I loved my job (I was there 35 years) but retirement is still better. Moreover, God has blessed me with good health so there isn't too much I still can't do at age 67.....and I love those senior discounts (still not sure why they do it, but I'll take em') :)

The more I ride this C650 GT the more I like it; it has almost everything I thought should be on a street motorcycle. So for me the question is; would I still like it as much if I were 30-40 years younger, or would I consider it just a nice old man's bike? Hmmm? I wonder if BMW has US ownership statistics as to the age of the purchasers of these scooters? It might be interesting to see who is buying them new.

I'm 40, accustomed to riding very peaky 2 strokes and I find the Sport to be Everything that I want in a street machine. At $10k we could have bought a load of different bikes, but the C still does it all the best, as far as I'm concerned.
