Spare Key??

Just purchased a new 2023 C400 GT which came with one key FOB. Per the manual, it looks like there is an emergency plastic spare key which I did not receive. My question is whether the c400 GT is supposed to come with an emergency plastic spare key or is it something I need to purchase from the dealer? Thanks for any info on this.

Hello, yes, the bike comes with one FOB key and one emergency key. I bought a used 2022 recently and also did not receive the emergency key. So the dealer said they would order it free of charge and let me know when it comes in. The cost varies by dealer if you need to purchase it, but generally they are in the $100+ range. Any dealer can order the emergency key, but you will need a driver's license (for identification) and the bike's registration (to prove you are the owner).

What @mzflorida said in that other thread, the one you inadvertently put in the wrong subforum.

I just got out the packet of stuff I got with my C 400 GT, and took this pic. It was a good reminder to me to move that key to the side of a stand-up tool chest I have in the garage, where I have my other bike spare keys and suchlike held to the side by magnets; this is an easier location for me to specify to my wife, if I ever need to call her and ask her to bring me a key if I'm stranded somewhere in my travels.

Edit: I also keep a spare button battery or two for the fob in my OEM topcase (which is opened via the normal metal swing-out key in the fob). And I have an Apple AirTag on the key ring with my fob.

There is a place under the seat (on the back side of the seat, an elastic band) to put your owners manual. This might not be a good place to keep it but I thought the only time I would need it is if the battery went dead in the original key. You can still open the seat on the side with the metal key. I think I'm going to move it because it wont help me if I loose they key fob. Wonder if I can have just another metal key made by the lock smith that I could just keep in my wallet.
