Yep, that's what I'm planning. Trying to get people lined-up for a tour starting in Spring, in late April or early May, as soon as all four passes are open and cleaned-up.

Here is a MAP of the Route:

Sierras Tour.jpg

Four days of sweepers and twisties, from 126 to 148 miles/day, West to East one day, East to West the next.. No super rush, time to stop along the way and enjoy the scenery and snow-capped mountains all around you!

With my brother, that makes TWO of us on our Tmaxes. Another on the Maxi-Scoots Forum makes Three. (Not sure what he's riding...better be at least 400cc...) What do we NEED to really make it a Classic Trip? The BMW Scoots.

I'm talking to YOU, IBIKING! And YOU Christian! We'll be passing North through L.A. on our way to where the trip starts at Coarsegold, just South of Yosemite.

It's central to the state, and we can even be met on the EAST side of the Sierras the next day by riders from Nevada and Arizona...

So, ANY TAKERS??

Feel free to do all or ANY of the routes with us!

DAY ONE is from Oakhurst North to the Yosemite Entrance, and then east through Yosemite and up and over the Tioga Pass, down out of the Park to Mono Lake and north to Bridgeport. 148 Miles of INSANE Scenery, just cruising and warming-up.

DAY TWO is West from Bridgeport back UP on 126 amazing miles through the Sierras via highway 108 and the Sonora Pass to Sonora and North to Arnold.

DAY THREE is the BOMB! From Arnold we go East 134 miles up and over Ebbets Pass on Highway 4, which is MORE SCENIC than Yosemite, loop North and back West through Carson Pass and down to Pine Grove.

DAY FOUR we are cruising South from Pine Grove back down to Oakhurst, just chillin' through the hills, 136 miles.

That's the Agenda! join us for any or all of it!

Sounds like fun, but I'm on the wrong coast and don't have the time off necessary to ride cross country, participate in your ride, and then ride back home... :p

I was in Carmel, CA for vacation over the holidays and took Highway 1 down from SF to Big Sur. All I got to say is I hate you west coasters. Seriously, we got nothing like that here in the midwest. All I could do was look at the numerous bikes I saw enjoying the ride. Only saving grace was I was in a convertible BMW z4. :)

I'd kill to be able to join you...

OK, Ill look into joining youse guys. I'm San Jose but its no big deal to meet up at Yosemite. I spent my youth in the San Joaquin Valley, So I'm familiar with the area, and the 100+ degree summer temps and the impossible pea soup winter fog that can lead to school cancellations. About the only thing that could limit my availability would be the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs as I work for the San Jose Sharks.

Thanks for the invite,

Christian

Okay, Spring is here and I've been following the historic opening dates for the 4 major Sierras passes that we will be riding through (The LAST one to open is always the Tioga Pass in Yosemite). Looks like they SHOULD all be opened by the second week in May, barring some really LATE snowstorm activity. I'm penciling-in the 4-day ride to start in Oakhurst, CA, on the 12th of May. We want to get the run in BEFORE the Memorial Day weekend, and the attendant 8,546 slow, idiot RV drivers in the mountains...

So, once again, who's IN? Got some Tmax riders from the Majesty Forum coming along, also. You can show them what to upgrade to! Should be FUN!!!

So Day 3 would be Wednesday, May 14? Not sure I can do mid-week but we'll see. Keep us posted -- looks like an amazing ride!

Okay, it's ON! The Tioga Pass opened at NOON yesterday; we meet at The Cool Beans Café in Oakhurst on May 12th at 8am, and head OUT!

After going through Yosemite, we overnight in Mono lake, and head back West on 108 to Arnold.

Option TWO might be to join us in Arnold on the 14th for a Day Ride, and then do the LOOP; across the Sierras and BACK on Highways 4 and 88. Should be the BEST riding of the Trip...

WHO"S IN???
