Hi Coolain
I took the Scoot in to have the fault looked at but the dealer was useless.......
They had it for 6 hours and the result was they said that it does indeed make a noise!
There excuse for not investigating it was that they didnt have the special tools required to strip the CVT. Pathetic...
They only had a months notice the scoot was going in....

Thanks for the update Andy..
Somehow I m getting the feeling they know the problem but giving excuses or buying time till the warranty expires... I got somewhat same response from the BMW workshop. Asked me to monitor further and try put more rev when riding off. Rather lame...
I will be sending in to the workshop soon and demand they look into the problem.. Bike barely 4 months old...

Cheers

Hello everyone! I'm new on here and reading the response to the sounds from the cvt, I'm having the same problem. Noticed it first jerking when taking off, now it makes a weird hollowie squealing noise at start, then when engaged the sound stops and runs as it should. Does anyone know what it could be?

Thanks

Welcome aboard. Sure sounds like the same problem several had that was fixed by getting the recall completed.

Yeah it is comming from the cvt I have the same thing going on with mine seems to go away after driving for about 20/30 miles I'm going to wait for another year and bitch about it and have them replace every thing I have 16750 miles on my bike.

Hi everyone! Mine also got the squeaking sound after 6 month of riding for almost 5000km. Surpringly, this only happened after the dealer replaced the timing chain tensioner during the first interval service 3 months back. Any ideas/advices on this? Thanks

Hi all! Last week I have my c600 inspected at the dealer for the squeaking noise. They took 3 days to fix it and said the noise came from CVT belting. I am not sure whether they were telling the truth because if belting-related problem, that would take hours to fix instead of 3 days. So far, I haven't notice the squeaking yet but will tell how it is when I am going to have long distance ride for nearly 2,000 miles soon. Hope the ride would be fine all the way with no glitches like this squeaking.

16750 miles? Wow! Do you still like it as much as you did when you got it?

does anyone remember the old V belts? when a car had 4 to 5 of them? If the edges got glazed over, they would squeek at different rpms.

Yeah still like the bike if I lived in a warmer place than Vermont I probably have a lot more miles, Probably won't get out until mid April the way the weather is happening here in VT.

Hi guys! Just keeping the update on the squeaky noise on my bike as I did 2,000 miles ride last week. Still the noise was noticeable especially when the bike start to at 1-2k rpm but wouldn't affect the ride all the way. As Wsteele suggests, "I'm going to wait for another year and bitch about it and have them replace every thing I have 16750 miles on my bike". That would be perfect! :)

Just had my C600 Sport delivered and taken it out for its first ride :)

Am very impressed but one thing is causing me a bit of concern and from the sound of this thread, I'm not the only one:
When I'm taking off from a standstill and feeding the power gently, I get a moaning type of squealing noise which I can only assume is the drive belt - though not knowing a anything about these scoots yet, thought I'd ask on here. That's when I found this thread which seemed the most appropriate.
My question was going to be "Is that normal?"
It seems to be more regular the warmer the engine becomes, and when properly warm, does it all the time.

I've bought the scoot from a BMW dealer as an ex demo. It's an 2012 model with 6200 on the clock & just serviced by them. It comes with a years warranty.
Is this something that I should go back to them about?

Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Hilton.

It is the belt slipping until it warms up (a short bit of time). Did you have the belt changed at the 12,000 mile mark or are you still on the original belt. If you are on the original belt they will probably replace it (as the maintenance schedule calls for) and charge you 3 hours Labor and $260 for the belt
