Well....after renting a trailer (for my trade) and getting everything ready to travel 4 hrs away to get 2015 GT salesman calls to tell me whoops....cannot sell to me because of recall on brake hose.
Not a very happy camper here.

That's BS! They had to know about the stop sale. In fact it was posted here awhile ago now that you mention it. sorry to hear that.

The recall should be done soon... Ask the dealer for a bigger discount...
Can't go wrong on the BMW. I'm at 34000 very happy miles... Only complaint is the high maintenance cost...

I still haven't gotten notification that the parts are in yet. I'm holding off bringing in my scooter for it's 24K mile service until I hear the part is available. I don't want to bring it in for service only for them to hold it an indefinite amount of time while waiting for the part to appear.

The dealer let me take mine after service. It's a stop sale, not a stop release after service... :) However, a call to your service dept. could clarify the matter. Who knows, it could be a couple months before the parts are available.

Maybe I'm misremembering... but I thought someone here brought in their bike for service and was told they couldn't give it back to him till the recall service was done...

Yes...very disappointing...they have offered to deliver it to me after repairs made but reading through this forum it sounds like it might be awhile:(

I think I remember someone saying the dealer tried to keep it after service too. They've had a used GT for sale at BMW SF for at least 3 months and it is "sale pending". But my understanding is that they continue to provide service. They'd have quite a problem if they had to hold everything they serviced. That would be a real buzz kill for maintenance.

I made the post. I was originally told by my dealer that if I brought the bike in he'd be unable to release it back to me with the stop on it. He called me the next day to apologize and tell me he'd misread the order.

Ah, thank you for the clarification!

Based on the BMW email newsletter today, the 2016's may be available to buy before the stop sale has concluded.

It's interesting that the comments suggest recall will be completed shortly and stop sale is in place or not. I was told here in Toronto that they cannot sell new scooters but used ones are ok to be sold. Then another dealership said they can get 2016 scooters as they have the new brake line fitted. Basically nobody in BMW Canada knows what's going on. And they also say the recall part may be 6 months yet. Not thrilled with riding a scooter subject to a recall, especially as I am hoping to do some longer trips in the spring.
Not thrilled with Germans just now as I also have a VW Touareg TDI diesel subject to a recall that I can't sell or trade in against anything.
