Touch your feet to the ground?

Is anyone else short like me (5'9" with a 29" inseam) and have to be on your tiptoes when you stop? If only I were 2 inches taller!!!

In the first few hundred miles of owning my c6 sport, I found myself sliding forward on the seat at stoplights, which gave me more confidence. My inseam is an inch or two longer than yours, but I certainly knew I was not riding on a Lambretta anymore. Not only in the seat height department, but the weight of the c6 was something that also took some getting used to.

I just took delevery of a 650GT with the BMW low seat. With the low seat and setting the preload on the rear shock at its lowest setting I can flat foot with a 30' inseam. You might try setting your preload to start with. The low seat does not come with the heat option.

I am also 5' 9" with a 29 inch inseam. I also stop with my tiptoes, but I have not found this to be a problem. Always wear good foot wear. I also will lean to the left and put my foot flat on the ground. I had a Triumph America (2005) and had the same problems with height. The 650GT is better balanced than the Triumph and easier to handle.

which one is better? standard seat or low seat? I am 5'9. I read a review saying standard seat is better for handling. I am getting mine from Germany in next 2 days. I live in Dallas area. I also ordered Platinum Bronze with highline package. The dealer told me that mine will come with low seat but i am afraid I will not have heat option. I cant wait to ride it.

I would personally not want to go without seat heat. As much as I get teased by my traditional scooterist friends for riding around on a spaceship, it's a feature that I find myself and the missus using more than I ever thought we would.

the dealer told me he ordered Bronze GT in low seat option ... Although i wanted the heated seats he said low seats doesn't come with one. I already payed the deposit. My wife told me to get the low seat one because on standard seats i was having trouble and i was on tip toes when stopped. I am afraid if i get the standard seat i will hv trouble when i am on stop especially when i hv passengers or backing up. I loved the heated seats but i am afraid i wont be able to get it because of the seat height. I am suppose to pick the bike up tomorrow. I dont know what to do.

You may be able to get a heated pad that you can put on the surface of the seat. I have seen the pads before (i am in Canada) so if you are in the states try auto suppliers. It would work like a heated suit, vest or pants.

thanks, i am in Texas...it would have been much cooler to have it as a factory installed luxury item. I wish BMW had low seats with heated option. They have a black GT with standard seats and I can probably trade panels but then again I will hv issues when on stop and reaching ground... ohh well, i am going to pick it up tomorrow with low seat.

I finally picked up the the platinum bronze GT low seat. I am in love with it. I put 50 miles on it already. I am glad i got the low seat. Even with the low seat I have a little hard time putting my feet flat on the ground during stops and backing up. I am 5'9 but i am going to get used to it. I am glad I didnt get it with standard seat or I would hv had to return it. I dont care abt the heated seats anymore.
