What rack do you suggest for a food delivery backpack so that I can still lift up the seat? I plan on having something like the PK-92V (18 inch cube) or the PK-140Z (20 inch cube) mounted on the rack. The food delivery cubes have a metal rack to help support the backpack. I like the

Shad W0CG49ST

or maybe the HEPCO & BECKER Minirack Soft Luggage Rear Rack?

What would you suggest?

The Hepco & Becker rack -- https://www.hepco-becker.de/en/alurack-topcasecarrier-black-for-bmw-c-400-gt-2019.html -- says this (emphasis mine):

Recommended load: 5kg (Please note the model-specific info, as well as the info on the assembly instructions and motorcycle manufacturer-specific information for any restrictions that may occur.)

The Shad rack -- https://www.shadusa.com/products/c400gt-top-mount -- says this (emphasis mine):

Once you have the top master Ref: W0CG49ST on your bike you can install any of our top cases.

Now, taking them at their word, the very large Shad "TR55 Terra Top Case" (https://www.shadusa.com/products/tr55-terra-top-case-silver-edition) weighs 5.4 Kg all by itself (from the PDF that gets downloaded by clicking on its technical specs).

I can't seem to find any spec regarding the load limit of the TR55, but my point here is that the total load limit of the Shad rack seems much higher than the Hepco & Becker one, and the Shad is a bit less expensive, too. So I guess I would go with that one, in your situation.

Let me add just one more note. I have the (much more expensive) BMW rack (and top case) on my '22 C 400 GT, and I had to remove that rack, while working on the bike, in order remove a bunch of bodywork, when I was installing some extra lighting out back. If you click on the Technical Details link on that page, you will download shad9644.pdf; that, in turn, shows that you have to remove the underseat storage area first, in order to access and remove the stock grab rails, etc.

My second point here is that that is a fair amount of work, and so I hope you're comfortable doing this sort of thing, or you should budget to have a shop do the work. As I note in my gallery, because I wasn't paying careful attention and because this was my first time messing with the scoot, I managed to break the tiny switch in the back of the flex case when I first removed the underseat storage compartment. This, of course, prevents the bike from starting; you can read about my mistake starting with this particular image and caption in my gallery:

Good luck with your project.

My guess is you'll never carry a passenger when the backpack is attached. If that's the case, I strongly recommend a mount that positions the backpack as close to your butt as possible and that makes it easy to remove the backpack to lift the seat. Putting a bunch of weight behind the pillion will do bad things to handling, IMHO.
I had a tail trunk on my Burgman for 10 years. On my 2020 C650GT I just have a luggage rack and a few Rok-Straps. When I go to the supermarket, I just strap a large wheeled duffle (with a rigid bottom) longitudinally to the rear seat and luggage rack. Weight distribution is ideal, capacity is formidable, and I only have to pop two fastex buckles to remove the bag.

I won't be carrying a passenger. The backpack needs to stay fixed to the rack. I also need to be able to lift the seat up to put my helmet and gloves inside so that I don't have to deliver food with my helmet on.

The racks i'm looking at still are

the official bmw rack

the shad rack

hepco and becker mini rack soft luggage - this company makes 3 types of racks for the c400gt (seen here https://www.hepco-becker.de/en/navigation/ef03efaada1e409c9d9ec95dbbe7bbf7)

and the givi rack

I'm thinking that I might go with this hepco rack, but I am waiting until I hear back from an expert I have helping me.

then have an expert attach a larger metal base plate to the hepco rack so that the food delivery box can rest on a surface as large as it is with none of the food bags edges hanging off of the sides so that the PK-140Z is 20 inch surface is fully supported.

I also found this cheaper version from ebay seller donmot-36 from south korea for $90 eBay item number:184966331850 which is half the price of the H&K and looks about the same.

any thoughts or feedback is appreciated.
