For summer use I take off my high windscreen + Wunderlich deflector and replace with the standard screen. I find that I get hardly any buffeting, just plenty of air flow and a sportier feel. If you're coming from the tall BMW screen to the standard screen I think you will be pleased provided...

The first thing I would do is check the 12V battery and charge it up as necessary. Then I would use an OBD2 scanner to check for and clear any error codes. The 12V battery maintenance system on my CE 04 doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the demand on the 12V battery during winter when...

Thanks for your kind words. 12V battery issues seem to be common in EVs and I've learnt about OBD2 scanners now. In any case, if my CE04 breaks and I can't fix it then I have a C400GT as backup :). Bob

A few days back I experienced a disturbing issue when I plugged in my CE 04 to charge. I had left it unused for only four days. The bike briefly fired up its display; locked the charge cable in place; shut itself down and then wouldn't start up again. I measured the voltage of the 12V battery...

I've had the occasional issue with my 12V battery running flat over winter if I haven't used my CE04 for a week or so but it's easy enough to top up and maintain the battery with a CAN-BUS compatible charger like the Optimate 4 Quad programme which plugs into the CE 04 DIN socket. I fitted an...

I ride my CE 04 throughout the year but if I were to lay it up over winter I would charge the propulsion battery to around 60%; plug a CAN-BUS compatible 12V battery charger into the DIN socket; put some insulating layers under both tyres and perhaps apply some corrosion protection to the brake...

One more thing; when charging with three phases the minimum charging current setting on my CE04 becomes 3 x 6A. Where possible I like to set my bike to charge slowly to maximise battery lifetime but being forced into the 18A charge rate setting with three-phase charging goes against this. My...

I would save bulk, weight and money by going for a 3m-long 32A single-phase cable. There's a discussion about this in the following thread: https://www.bmw-scooters.com/threads/type-2-quick-charger-single-phase-30a.2644/

Yes, disappointing isn't it? There has been no change in charging rate or anything else about the power train since model launch but at least my bike isn't out of date yet. I'm not bothered about residuals, from the start I decided I was going to keep mine until it was dead.

I have had another thought about the source of your C400GT's noise. The rattling could be a slack brake pad spring clip although a competent mechanic should have spotted that. I had this issue when I took delivery of the aforementioned CE 04 but the BMW mechanic at the dealers fobbed me off by...

I too had an annoying rattle on my 2023 C400GT and I too thought it was coming from the front end. Eventually I worked out that the noise was my Givi top box rattling on the Givi plate that I had bolted to the BMW rear rack. The noise went away when I stuck a few layers of dense foam flooring...

Hi Ron. It's just the energy recuperation level for Trip 1. I'm not sure why it's suddenly appeared for you but you can remove it in the display settings menu system. Random changes happen occasionally on my CE 04 such as the the energy consumption units changing. Bob

Hi MKUNES, I'm glad your CE 04 got through the MoT. My bike hasn't gone in yet - the MoT and service is booked for a week next Monday. I'll ring them this Monday to point out the potential pitfall. It's a 70 mile round trip for me along congested roads and I have to get down early to put...

I wouldn't rely totally on the system that tops up the 12V battery from the traction battery. I've got a CE 04 which is supposed to look after its 12V too. However, last week my bike showed a traction system failure message when I switched it on. I turned off the bike but it wouldn't switch...

The plaque and BMW emblem don't need to be touched, they're just attached to the side trim panel and nothing else. I have made some progress in that I pulled off the top and rear-facing edge of the side trim panel which is attached with four push clips. A fair amount of force is required but...

Short of getting hold of a workshop manual, you could try working out how to remove the fairing using a diagram of the relevant part that shows the location and type of fixtures. Here is a webpage that could help...

Thanks for the heads-up. My CE 04 is booked for its first MoT later this month at Wolverhampton BMW so I will contact them beforehand to preempt any problems.

Hi, I have a C400 GT 23 model year. I also have an Optimate 4 Dual Program (CAN-bus edition) and an Optimate 4 Quad Programme charger. Both work seamlessly with my C400 GT and CE 04 through the DIN socket. The Quad Program charger is the more user friendly of the two because it is easier to...

Thanks for the update PedalMike, that's really useful information for those wanting to lay-up their CE04. I'm glad that the propulsion battery was able to hang on to the majority of its charge for almost six months and I'm also glad to hear that the Optimate CAN bus charger works a treat.

I've given up routinely connecting my iPhone 8 to my CE 04 after getting the same sporadic connection problems when trying to use my new AirPod 2 Pros in my house. I must say that I find it liberating after putting up with this unpredictable bike software and App since March 2022. No more...
