If the sidestand or brake lever switches failed, the starter motor would not crank. When I first turn on the ignition, it makes the usual whirr-buzz for a second. Nonetheless, dead fuel pump is not a bad theory.
When can you come to New Jersey and connect your motoscan? The BMW shop has me...
Not to insult you, but I am asking for people who have observed the same problem on the same model bike. Start and kill are opposite positions on the same switch. If the starter is cranking the switch cannot be in the kill position.
My bike no longer starts. It was fine until this week. I turn the key and get the usual display. I retract the kickstand and pull in both brake levers. I press the starter and the bike cranks as usual but there is no hint of ignition. There is plenty of gas in the tank. I examined the fuse...
Two weeks ago I had my rear tire replaced at a non-BMW shop. Since then, the center stand has been grounding often in turns and over obstacles.
The new tire is the same as the old one, and the suspension preload is still at "3".
When I park the bike on the sidestand and look, the centerstand...
The ignition cylinder and key on my 2020 C650GT popped out while I was riding on the highway, and I didn't even realize it until I got home. I was able to turn off the bike by rotating the internals of the hole with a screwdriver, but of course there was no way to start the bike again. A...
Sadly, the only BMW scooters are 400cc (2 models) and electric (3 models). No 650 is advertised in the rest of the world. Here's UK, for example. https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/models/modeloverview.html#/filter-urban-mobility
I think the biggest for sale in the U.S. are Kymco and Piaggio.
I'm...
Sadly, Kymco dealers are scarce in the USA. If I needed to replace my C650GT and wanted a 550 instead of a 350, I'd have a serious talk with my local BMW shop about servicing a Kymco.
I installed these LED bulbs on my 2020 C650GT in September 2023. The low beam (which is on all the time) caused occasional error messages until I removed the rubber cap behind the bulb to reduce heat buildup. Performance has been perfect since then. Good high and low beam brightness and...
Effectively fairing a motorcycle to reduce drag requires a very uncomfortable race bike posture or a comfortable feet first posture. E.g. http://www.recumbentriders.org/forums/threads/2961/
The Corbin uses one less bolt than the stock seat. Be sure you have the bolt.
I bought a Corbin and backrest for my 2020 C650GT a few years ago. It's better than stock, but not great.
If I were in your situation right now, I'd send the stock seat to Russell and have them make a custom saddle...
When an oncoming motorcycle has its high beam on, all I can see is a blob of light. It's hard to tell how far away it is or how fast it's going. And it's impossible to tell if it's signaling a turn.
IMHO it's a bad idea.
I've had my 2020 C650GT for about 10K miles, and I ride all year in New Jersey. There is no perceptable engine heat.
In warm weather, this is a big improvement from the various bikes I've owned over 55 years, including the 2012 Suzuki Burgman.
You can buy a very expensive BMW pigtail and socket and install it under the seat. Or you can buy a fused SAE pigtail like this one for a few bucks at any auto store, attach it directly to your battery, and leave the SAE connector just outside the tupperware so you can connect a battery tender...
This is really too simple for a diagram. The C650GT has two H7 headlight bulbs. One is always on, and the other is on when high beam is selected. An H7 bulb just has two contacts. So each of the two headlight connectors just has one power and one ground.
https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/Publication/813466 offers an assortment of interesting facts (not opinions) about motorcycle safety. It makes interesting reading.
Some factors statistically associated with fatal crash involvment include
No valid motorcycle license.
License suspended...
Hah! In the early 1970s my wife and I had a Harley Topper scooter-- a 10 cu. in. 2-stroke with a rope pull-starter. We bought it for $50 as a second bike, used it mostly around-town for a couple of years. Even though the muffler rusted out and fell off during that time, we sold it for $50...
