GIVI #5132 only makes this Windshield for the C400GT. It is way too tall for me. I am 5'10" and the screen is 3" too tall. Purchased scooter used with this W/S. Called around to see if I could get someone to cut and shorten it. No such luck. After looking at a you tube I decided to try it. First mask tape the top third of W/S on both sides. Make a template out of cardboard of the top of the W/S, A word of cuation here not to cut it too short. Sit on the scooter with center stand and kick stand up . After marking a spot fifty feet in front on the pavement, with a grease pencil mark a spot on the W/S in line of sight where your eyesight penetrates the W/S looking at the 50 foot mark. This is from old school Harley Riders. Move the top of the template down to the mark and line up with top edges of the W/S and trace to W/S outline aligning with the top edge.

I used a jig saw with a metal cutting blade. Worked well. Concentrate carefully on cutting the exact line.

I used a block with diminishing grades of sandpaper to smooth the edges or any small "waves" you will probably get when cutting

I was reluctant to do this myself but it was fairly easy and the results were fantastic. Looks like new.

Total height from bottom to top of screen now is 26". Before cutting it was 29". Wonderlich max height uncut is 24" for comparison.

I also use BMW hand guards that work perfectly with the GIVI. I really do like the GIVI so much better than all the other brands considered. That is the reason I chose to cut down the GIVI and not buy another brand.

I would love to see a picture of what it looks like cut. I am considering a Givi as I would like to block more wind from my chest area on the cold days. Knowing that it can be cut is a big positive for me as I my also need to do this.

I read your instructions and they are very similar to what I have done in the past. I actually have plastic blades for my jigsaw and have cut windshields before. I will test for correct hight and tape.

I will post a picture when I get it done. It has been shipped however it will not get here for a few days. Not sure I will start this project before I get back from vacation. Going to ride in the Ozarks at the end of the month. I wonder if I will cut off that much. I am just a little over 5'10".

Rode about 60 miles today at highway speeds and mine turned out perfect. Wind just shaves the top of helmet with no buffeting. Do not forget to measure 50 feet in front of your bike, no kick stand or center stand, feet on the ground and sit up straight. Now get a grease pencil or sharpie and mark your line of sight on the wind sheild in the center. This will be the top of the template you made of the top curvature pattern.

Got it. Thanks for the report on how it is working for you and advise for set up. Again this is similar to how I have done it in the past. The height on the windshield I have right now is just about perfect so I will aslo measure it to see where it's at, The problem with my existing shield is that it is nerrow and I had to cut the sides in to get my hand guards to fit. (So I could turn the handlebars from full side to side.) This really reduced the amount of air blockage from the lower part of my body and chest. This is OK when it is really hot out but not so good when it is cold.
P.S. Just got a delivery date of my Givi shield. It should arrive the day I am leaving for my ride through the Ozarks. That is for the best, it will not tempt me to rush the job and cut it down before I leave.
