I was happy with the scooter before the accident, no complaints. I may buy another one in 2026. Anyone know what changes will be on the 2026 models?

Yeah, today I learned how severe a 15mph collision can be. It is no faster than bicycle speed, but fast enough to total a bike and give me road rash if I was not wearing gear. I can't imagine what happens at 30/40/50mph.Well, that might have caused any bike to be totaled.
But, yes, I think scooters are more likely to be totaled by insurance companies because scooters have more body plastic to replace, and because scooters are generally less expensive when new than a lot of regular bikes.
Glad you’re okay.
glad you came away uninjured!I am not concerned about the $12k purchase price, but I am concerned about how easily this $12k asset can become $0.
From what I can see this was an aggressive action by the other driver as they knew you were there.I was wearing gear so no injuries at all. Unfortunately, my 2025 C 400 GT is totaled. BMW dealership repair quote is almost 20k CAD. I guess BMW does have a reputation being expensive to repair. I'm still surprised this amount of damage is possible, I was only going 15mph(25km/h). Are scooters/motorcycles just easier to be totaled, or is this scooter especially expensive to repair, or was I unlucky maybe the scooter got hit at a bad angle?

I can't prove it was intentional, but it would be either intentional or negligent. Negligence is still not an excuse. Insurnace also ruled the driver 100% at fault, so it will not go against my record. From what I can see this was an aggressive action by the other driver as they knew you were there.
Out of habit, I guess. I probably passed by thousands of parked cars without incident this way. I didn't think much about it before, but since you asked:Why weren't you in the driving/riding lane?
