I was surprised to see this. I have read the manual but went back and double checked. It is shown in one picture but not identified. I am hoping someone has more information. The K1600s have these and they were great for keeping the bike charged or having extra USB outlets.

First off, is that a pic of your new bike? I can't really tell from the pic where it is, either.

Second, if you're curious, note that I have added a BMW/Powerlet/DIN/Hella/Victory/John Deere outlet to ALL of my bikes since 2007, including both my former and current C 400 GTs (despite the fact that at least some of the C 400 years and models -- perhaps all of them -- include such a socket inside the right cubby).

I've added all of these under the left thigh, to use for: heated gear hook-ups; smart-chargers in the garage; and 12V air compressors carried on the bikes. These have all been directly connected to the battery on each bike, with 14- or 16-gauge wire, with the hot side fused at 15 amps. I have pics of all of these sockets on the various bikes (and a pic of my homemade cord) in this post from last September:

In terms of smart-charger use, this circumvents any and all CANbus issues, which I can't be bothered with. But that's me. I have detailed instructions on how I did this on the C 400 GT in my gallery, starting with this particular caption and image (and continuing on for the next 14 images):

It is located under the right side storage. Inside the Storage on the Left is the USB C power plug, and a second in the trunk. But I am confused by this one since there is no mention in the manual. I have ordered a USB C 30W PD3.0 Fast Charger Din to USB, Hella Plug USB Adapter, 18W QC3.0 Power Outlet, Aluminum Voltmeter for 12V-24V Ducati Triumph BMW Motorcycle and More European Style Motorcycles to test for power. I wonder if it is disconnected for US models so not mentioned in the manual. And then if it has power can it recharge the battery? Doubtful since the bike comes with a preinstalled pig tail coming out of the battery.

This may be a tricky situation. Some of the outlets -- the USB ports and the Sat Nav plug (60 seconds) come to mind -- are active only for a short period after the bike is turned off. They may be active longer, if voltage is detected. As I recall, there's a brief mention of this sort of thing in the manual.

Regarding the pigtail to the battery, this may not be a factory option. A lot of dealerships install pigtails (typically SAE) themselves on bikes, as a courtesy to owners and also to periodically keep showroom bikes charged up (for delivery or test rides). My local dealership did this on my C 400 GTs, but I've never used it.

Good luck in your research.

It is hot. I tested with a adapter from my Grand America I was able to find. That is a good point about it might be the dealer. Definitely not going to shove a battery tender into it until I can confirm. Will make life easier.
