Well Hi to all! I'm Vaughn from Cave Junction, Oregon. The GT is the first 'scooter' I have ever owned. The first ride I ever had on a 'bike' was when I was about 6 years old. Our neighbor bought a Vespa and took all the neighborhood kids for a ride around the block. That was back in the late 50's down in Southern California. I KNEW I wanted a bike as soon as I could drive! Thanks to my old neighbor who is probably dead and gone. My first motorcycle was a Honda 305 Scrambler back in 1967, and I have been enjoying two wheels ever since.
For the last 29 years I have had a fake leg on the left side, the result of a lumber mill mishap. So, I'm kind of limited on the style of bike I ride if I don't want to jury rig the shifter or foot peg position. After logging almost 80K miles on a Suzuki 1500 Intruder (heel and toe shifter), and then 40K on a Can Am Spyder RT (electric shifter), I decided to try out a Maxi Scooter which offered endless leg room and no shifting! The GT is as close as I will ever get to a Sport bike, and is every bit as comfortable as the touring Spyder was, and much more comfortable than the Harley like Suzuki. My wife rides a Can Am Spyder RS, but when we are going for a ride longer than 100 miles, she rides with me. I just recently retired, so I am no longer commuting 70 miles (round trip) to the big city, so I am not putting on the miles that I was, but I still use the GT a lot. I will turn over 29,000 miles on it today, and have had it just over 2 years. So far, the only problem has been a small town dealer who has not had to really work on one of these. As of 26K miles, the valves were on spec, and the clutch belt doesn't need replacement. Love the bike!
 
Hey to all you fellow scooter fans. Bought a 2014 GT about the middle of April with the heated grip option. Also ordered the top box and back pad when I purchased the scoot. This is my 5th scoot and still can't explain why I like them, I just do. Wanted to say hi to everyone with hopes to meet and ride with others that may live in or around Rockford Ill. Is there an official way to find others to ride with? Everyone have a safe riding season. Matt

Tim, Welcome to the gang. Man, you gotta have som bee-u-tiful riding country up there. What bike(s) did your GT replace....Or are you a "collector" (some might say hoarder:D) like some of us?

I purchased a yet to be released in the U.S. Nolan N-Com B5 comm setup for my Nolan N-44. It was a great price and shipping was faster then some of the U.S. based motorcycle gear websites. Received my package from Italy to my place here in Phoenix, AZ in about 10 days.
 
Hello everybody.
I'm awaiting delivery of my new(ex-dealer-demo) C500 Sport Highline in Blue.

Lurked for a while on this forum and really like the friendly banter and the intelligent advice etc. Quite refreshing for a 'bike' forum.

Anyway - I'm based in London UK so not a newcomer to scooter riding but certainly a novice to Maxi Scootering!
Should be taking delivery of the Blue Meanie next week. It's not a spring chicken as it has 6k miles on the clock but has the 1 year BMW warranty and newly serviced - looks immaculate tho so that's nice + they were asking an insanely low price :)
Excited to get going on it as for the past 18 months have been two-up commuting with the wife on a Piaggio Beverly 350. Superb scooter with plenty of power but just got a bit fed up with the clattering over potholes and cries of pain from behind!
I get the feeling that a whole new perspective will open with the C600: More comfortable ride over the rubbish London roads and also onboard(haven't even told her about heated seats yet;), more torque, less frenetic and hopefully more respect from fellow commuting 'proper' bike riders.
It'll be interesting to see how we manage the constant tight squeezes thru gridlock traffic and the what position we get in the traffic-light GP.

Also looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing experiences. Seems like most here are from the US - I'm really enjoying hearing about the view from the other side of the pond.

Doreamon - I thought Black was the fastest colour ;)

Well, haven't got an exact delivery date yet but they're getting the parts for the service. It's from a dealership up in the North UK where scooters are farer and fewer inbetween so they don't carry the parts so much in stock. Speaking to the salesman, he said the reason the price was so good was that not so many people 'get' the scooter thing up there and are more into *ahem* 'real' bikes.
Plenty down here tho in the South tho!!

Also they're fitting a Bike Trac GPS anti theft unit which will give me peace of mind as have had 2 scooters nicked in the past.

As I sold the Piaggio a couple of nights ago, I've been going into work on the bike which, as nice as it is, just reminds me just how perfect scooters are in the city.......particularly yesterday with the torrential rain we had. Getting full waterproofs & boots on, carrying heavy locks in a rucksack etc.

Will give you the full 'first impressions' update when I get it.
Almost a shame it's not the middle of winter so I can use the heated seats!
