Removing/replacing CE 04 heated comfort seat?

Has anyone removed or replaced the CE 04 Comfort Seat with heating elements installed? I'm considering swapping my seat out for the Comfort 2 model, but was concerned about this note:

> Only the comfort seats (when ordered ex works) have seat heating.

It made me worried that if I ordered a Comfort 2 seat that it wouldn't be easy to setup the heating for, but I can't imagine it being more complicated than connecting some wires.

Hi triangletom
I would check with the dealer maybe you need a separate command to put them on the right hand command just above the heat grip bottom, and that why it need the factory installation.
 
Hi sir,
I am not sure it`s same in US but in Turkey we have 6 different model of seats.
3 with heating 3 without heating.
So if your existing seat has heat system set up & cables etc, and your order is the heating model thats all fine,
however if your order is not the heat system one, then please change it cos it wont fit that.

Other than that, If its all good after order, let me know so I can share a video with you for DIY.
 
@triangletom I’m in the US and replaced my stock heated seat with the “2” model because I have long legs. It was simple to do and disconnect/reconnect wiring for heating. The 2 model has made the CE04 a little more comfortable for me.

Related to seats though, there should seriously be a recall and replacement. They degrade terribly in any kind of heat or sun. So stupid.
 
I have a heated black and gray pro/comfort 1 seat that I would love to trade for a heated comfort 2 seat. In case anyone out there is in the opposite issue as I am

What are the part numbers for the various seats, or where can I find them? I am also tall, and the best seating place is on top of the little triangular bump.
 
Hi everyone on a Facebook page a lot of French people had the same problem with there seats and they did have a replacement under warranty because of the fabric who is not handling well the temperature. So I would check with the dealer to get free replacement.

A point to note is that there doesn’t seem to be much consistency in the naming of the products across different sites – doesn’t help. Delving into the description is necessary, I think!

FWIW at 5’10” I also found myself sitting on the hump on the original Comfort Seat of the demo bike I rode. When I bought my bike I made sure it had the Comfort Seat II, and found it about right. If I was longer than the 32” inside leg I am, I think I would end up going for the seat that is just a flat bench.

Interestingly the CE 04 Definition prototype had a movable hump:

Maybe that was a better idea?
 
I'm thinking about that, too. I've only ridden my CE04 once so far, but I feel that I need to sit exactly on the hump, which is obviously not very comfortable. I really don't know what they were thinking when they designed that seat, I don't even want to know what the regular seat would feel like.
Mine has the "comfort seat".
So does the "comfort seat 2" really have the hump further back? Does anyone have measurements?

"recommended for very tall riders"....I dunno. I'm only 6'0" (184cm).
I'll need to see if the riding position changes when I mount the windshield, it actually may...

Another idea would be a proper backrest for the rider, but I doubt that's possible.
 
It seems the "backrest seat II" is only available via dealers in Europe.
Hmm, I wonder what the tariffs will make of that.
Can anyone confirm that this seat has the heater? Should be part #52538552187 (#5 on the picture for the black/grey version).

Yes, I can confirm that both of those seats, #4 and #5 pictured, are heated. I have both.
I purchased the long one, #5, as I was getting pains on my knee on longer rides.
It provides about 2.5 inches of extra leg room which was more than enough to alleviate the pain and allow me to stretch out and ride in comfort without sitting on the hump.
Swapping out was simple and was done in less than 10 minutes.
I kept the shorter seat as a spare and was planning to get it re-covered without the hump if the pain continued.

Interesting to hear. I bought my 04 a couple of years ago and beforehand I tried a demo bike with #4. I found I was sitting on the hump, which was not desirable. When my bike came up for sale the dealer assured me that it had #5, Comfort Seat Long, and when I rode it I convinced myself that it was better, even though I was a bit sceptical about the position of the hump. Now looking at the above pics I think I was probably hoodwinked and my bike just has the regular comfort seat. A few pics:

Its kinda difficult to tell from the photo's to be honest but as long as you find it comfortable and have no pains, issues or otherwise then, happy days..!

Point taken. I think whichever way, these seats are not designed for long distance touring…:unsure:
But when the weather turns I do appreciate the heat :rolleyes:
 
It sure feels like luxury on those cold winter days. Thought it was kind of a gimmick until I started using it. i'd miss it now.!
