Replacing CVT air filters

I just ordered the original BMW seat 'shock absorber' part from this company earlier this week, fair price and should not need to do any modifications to make it fit:

The shock came in this afternoon, I installed it in a 3 minute job and it works perfectly - much stronger holding the seat up, no more 'sagging'. It's the original BMW part.
You have to use a small screwdriver to pry 'up' the small metal clips that keep the shock legs attached to the ball joints. That's how you remove the old one and install the new one: once the legs are over the ball joints, simply press the clips back down and voila.

Without checking out a parts diagram, but familiar with such devices -- seat struts -- my guess is that the term you're looking for is "circlip":
