I had people taking pictures and asking tons of questions today. Lots of fun.
The only other 650gt I saw was from Illinois. Guy customized his seat and added pinstripes! Going back tomorrow.

North america hasn't even caught on to hot hatchbacks yet let alone scooters.

So now I own a scooter and a Subaru STi. No more hatches from Subie. Only two hot hatches available in U.S. are Mazda and next year VW Golf R. With my luck BMW will probably stop making scooters.

You should still be able to get the Golf GTI or the Focus ST but there are still many more available in Europe, they don't get the F150 though lol ;)

Fiesta st and Fiat Abarth and Mazdaspeed 3 and perhaps Veloster Turbo should be in this conversation.

Probably not. I define hot hatch as 300hp 2.0 to 2.5 liter, 150 mph and all wheel drive, and track capable from the showroom. Oh and 0-60 in under 5 seconds. The new VW R meets those criteria as does the VW R 400 concept probably going to Europe with a near 400 hp from the VW 2.0 motor. Wowza. The Mazda, except lacking all wheel drive and having terrible torque steer, might qualify with $5000 of mods.

The cars you mentioned are medium hot hatches not hot hot hot.

That's too true. In America 300 hp is not found in a hatch too often. I figure it's because we have loads of space and fuel is cheaper than in UK or Europe. Average American car buyer would be looking for a camaro or mustang or perhaps a hot saloon like a M3 or something.
I'd love a mid engine v6 hatch, but we'll never see them stateside.

At least BMW sells a subaru wagon as it should have been built. When folks ask about my X1 I tell them BMW finally made a decent Outback[emoji12]. And less expensive than the 3 series wagon.

I know in europe they have a 1 series in a hatch as well, right?

I was hoping for an M1 but no go.

I went to a scooter rally in Maine over the weekend. There was a variety of sizes and makes of scooters, antique to brand new. My Sport was the only BMW, which didn't surprise me. A lot of people looked at it, but, the general feeling seemed to be it is out of the price range of most scooter enthusiasts. Of course, there were a lot of newer Vespa's , which in my opinion are way over priced for what you get, those people seemed to be the ones that might be future BMW scoot riders.

I told my wife when we bought the c650
to the bmw moto riders we are nobody because we didn't spend enough money
and to scooter riders we are to much
hard to fit in when you buy the best in 1 category but middle of the road in the big picture
after all we ride scooters for god sake
