As a 20+ year vintage owner and rider I find my cohorts in the vintage scene are indifferent to my BMW. They certainly do comment on the price that's for sure. Personally, I think the GTS is one of the overall best value on two wheels, at least when it's under $100 per month for a well built product. It is funny to think that to properly build a nice vintage bike is almost as much as our big bikes. The cult of scootering and Mod, Skin, Scooterboy has a rich history going back to mid 60's, they're fairly set in their ways.

I told my wife when we bought the c650
to the bmw moto riders we are nobody because we didn't spend enough money
and to scooter riders we are to much
hard to fit in when you buy the best in 1 category but middle of the road in the big picture
after all we ride scooters for god sake
It tough to be one of a kind!

Does anyone have any idea how many C series bikes have been sold in US? I'm thinking it's got to be one of the least seen scooters around.

The going average seems to be 3 GT's to one sport.
My guess would be 600-800 in the US.
I dont think they will continue thier sales for sport without special order.

There were a few hard core "vintage or nothing" scooter guys at the rally, but, a good percentage of the riders were new riders or enthusiasts who love the whole scene. The attitude in New England seems to be; What's good is what's fun!! The vintage guys are a small segment, barely known to the new scooterists.

That's so different to what's around here in San Francisco area. We still have fairly big rallies (200-300 bikes) that are primarily vintage, although many of them also have cvt bikes but choose to ride oldies to the shows. One thing that's been super cool since the modern scooter became awesome is that old bikes are being restored to original spec more than before. In the 80's and 90's everything got some kind of performance kit or pipe. It's good to see the old bikes preserved and not chopped up and raced out. I can't wait to go on some rallies soon now that I've got Ol Blue back. They sure are fun.

Unfortunately, New England probably never had the scooter population of SF as our winters are so much more severe. A lot of the scooters from the fifties and sixties, most likely have rusted away.
